Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumWho has put out your favorite endorsement at this point in the primaries?
Not the actual words they used in their endorsement but the endorser themselves.
My favorite at this point is John Kerry. Not only has he endorsed Biden, he is working out in the field for him. That's a BFD.
John Kerry is simply at the top of my list when it comes to politicians. I could listen to the guy for hours. The manner in which he talks speaks directly to me. There is very little about the guy that doesn't impress me.

My second favorite is Ayanna Pressley endorsing Elizabeth Warren. She forges her own path, speaks well to all that concerns us, and represents all we expect from elected officials.

As I do in many of my OP's I'll add the opposite end of the spectrum as well. Who has been the worst endorsement of this cycle? By far.... There is simply no question about it.... Sanders fifteen minute endorsement of Cenk. Did no one google "Cenk"? No more would have been needed. Endorse someone down ticket just to have someone else google him for you so you are forced to rescind your down-ticket endorsement. Just wow.

(2,061 posts)I really really like Castro and he is a great fit for Warren. Listening to Castro talk about real world problems and how people are systemically held back is a thing of beauty. He gets it like few others.

(2,657 posts)I am betting that Biden eventually will get endorsements from the Clintons.
Barack Obama is wisely hanging back and not making an official endorsement until he truly sees how the delegate count is going. There are rumors that he likes Elizabeth Warren, but I notice that he hasn't done anything official yet. I think he wants to wait and see what the voters truly want because he knows that his official endorsement will have great value.

(47,419 posts)the Clintons eventually endorsing Biden. As for Obama, I think it is totally appropriate for him not to endorse until after a nominee is chosen. He is behaving like the statesman that he is.

(6,544 posts)I pay virtually zero attention to endorsements. I care about a candidates actual words and actions, and some celebrity or pol saying I prefer so-and-so, doesn't impact that. But then, I've always moved opposite of hype. Likely, for me, the more endorsements someone gets, without their presenting clear leadership potential and plans, the less likely I'll even continue to look at that person. It's not a game show, it's a job interview, if the person can provide specific, personal examples as one would get in a reference call, than it just doesn't impact me. YMMV

That said, they don't have a big influence on me, either. That doesn't mean it isn't a fun part of a team sport.
I don't know what TBH stands for.

(47,419 posts)You know, I'm getting tired of looking of random acronyms. I'm still rather attached to actual words. I had no idea what TBH meant either, but I've seen so many lately that I don't know.

(59,503 posts)There is no statesman in my life time that impresses my more than John Kerry. He is genuinely a good person, brilliant and has lived his values. I like that, even as he has endorsed Biden, he has praised the others running.
Speaking of the Biden endorsement, he did a better job making the case for Biden than Biden has done for himself. Part of that is that there are things others can say that you really can not say for yourself. In 2004, Ted Kennedy did this for Kerry in the primaries.

If Biden were to elaborate on his accomplishments, it would have come across as kind of arrogant. Much better to let others sing your praises and accept them humbly.

(59,503 posts)Kerry's endorsement here is fantastic - I remember how surprised people were in 2008 at Obama's convention where Kerry made a brilliant speech that made the case for Obama over McCain. Many on this site were completely surprised - saying as they did at many times - that he would have won had he been this good in 2004. (It always surprised me as he initially gained fame with his eloquent and persuasive indictment of the Vietnam War.)
