Honestly, I don't get all of this - are people hoping to convert people that post here to another candidate?

Does that even happen?

I like Bernie. I've met him (we didn't chat, but my daughter was in a contest that he hosts every year and was part of a group of students that were invited to the state house - he hosts a convo w/them that lasted about 1.5 hours).

His staff loved him. He was generous, sort of single minded (as he is) - and enthusiastic about kids expressing political opinions.

People in Vermont, generally, are very supportive of him. Plus (from my point of view) - he has driven the national conversation farther to the left - and I appreciate that.

FWIW, I don't see myself as nasty online. I don't mind that others have other opinions - and I never see myself as working to change other peoples mind (well, not usually!). Mostly, because it doesn't work.

all Bernie supporters are nasty online but some certainly are. They will tell any lie, they will threaten, and yes... I'm starting to once again see Bernie or Bust.

Those are the folks who are just in it to disrupt. They are anarchists who want a real revolution and they behave as though it's a cult. It is not all Bernie's fault, but much of it is.

And why would you be nasty online? You're supporting Elizabeth Warren, aren't you?

and doesn't shut them down. He enjoys the disruption of the party he hates so much. 90% of his attacks are directed at Democrats.

Nasty people get drawn to him because of the tolerance of intolerance.

Bernie's supporters are going to become so angry, so alienated that come November they will sit at home and not vote if Bernie doesn't get the nomination, they are going to be angry as they feel they are being treated as outsiders, all these negativity focused on him and not on the con.

This campaign against Bernie is not healthy people, I wish it would stop. Joe Biden said it very well, lets all focus on making sure we get rid of the con, and by trashing Bernie we are all shooting ourselves on the foot.

This has to stop.

18. Bernie survived the "Better dead than red" period.
Tue Jan 21, 2020, 10:57 AM
Jan 2020

I joined the Navy in 1968 believing the “Better dead than red” propaganda wanting to patrol the rivers of Vietnam shooting communists. By a strange turn of fate I got a unit of patrol boats I wanted, but it was in the part of the Navy that only operated in the Atlantic Ocean. Later in life it was revealed that a lot of what we heard about Vietnam in the 60s was lies. I had no use for and despised people like Bernie in the 60s. Point being is we are still being lied to by the same people on the right today. The extreme right is the reason people on welfare were despised when I was growing up. Now I realize the people I despised were simply the expendables not needed anymore So now we deprive the people of limited skills and talent and aptitude of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness not because they are a threat to our way of life, but because it would cost money. And the reason they can’t pay their way is because the “better dead than red people” sold their jobs to the same people the “better dead than red” people wanted them to kill 50 and 60 and 70 and 80 years ago. Is it now “better dead than poor”? Still missing something?

I’m on Warren’s social media pages regularly and they are continuously swamped by obnoxious Bernie supporters. Try to find the same behavior among Warren supporters (or any other Dem). It’s no contest.

5. And noting that he doesn't do shit about it

...I will say, however, that it's not only him, it's the culture around him. It's his leadership team. It's his prominent supporters. It's his online Bernie Bros and their relentless attacks on lots of his competitors, particularly the women. And I really hope people are paying attention to that because it should be worrisome that he has permitted this culture — not only permitted, [he] seems to really be very much supporting it. And I don't think we want to go down that road again where you campaign by insult and attack and maybe you try to get some distance from it, but you either don't know what your campaign and supporters are doing or you're just giving them a wink and you want them to go after Kamala [Harris] or after Elizabeth [Warren]. I think that that's a pattern that people should take into account when they make their decisions.

Many of the Sanders supporters stated that they would never vote for a Democrat if Sanders did not win the primary.

I often wondered if they were republicans or Jill Stein supporters attempting to divide the party.

Jan 2020

Threw themselves down on the floor, tried to remove chairs that elderly and disabled people on the floor needed and even tried to block the exits, stating no one was leaving until they changed to supporting Sanders. I heard about similar behavior on the state level, but security was available to nip it in the bud.

I'm sorry but seeing it in person almost guarantees I'll never support him.

The area is small. I'd never saw them before that night. I also never saw them after. They did not show up to volunteer to canvass, phone bank, collect data, donate office supplies, etc.

I take that back. I saw one. He knocked on my door while canvassing for Trump and Roy Blunt.

It's not as if Bernie is a Nazi. It's not like Bernie is being impeached.

It's not like we have a facist wannabe dick-tater, and his Slovenian sex worker supported by a known Russian murderer attempting to take control of the remains of our democracy; who are applauding and cheering on evertime the Democratic party is divided and infights. It helped them last time, it is helping them now.
