Joe Biden grabbed my friend in a bear hug & she still tears up when she talks about it

Last year Biden was the speaker at one of the DFL's (Democratic Farmer Labor party) big annual dinners. My friend, "Mary" and her late husband have always been the most dedicated of volunteers and someone comped Mary two of the expensive photo op tickets to the dinner.

So, she's standing in line waiting to shake Biden's hand and get the picture taken and things are moving pretty quickly, no one is getting a chance to really say anything to Biden and Biden is just smiling and saying hello, thanking people for coming. Mary's turn comes, the picture gets taken and then Ken Martin, the state party chair, says "Mary just lost her husband to cancer."

Everything stops. Joe, takes her hands, extends clearly sincere sympathy, she tears up a bit and Biden "Can I give you a hug?" (Note, he asked) and he just enveloped her in a caring, warm bear hug. Then talks to her for another couple minutes.

I haven't decided who I'm supporting, but I do believe that Joe Biden is a caring person and, maybe all the losses he has experienced, has made him a man who needs human touch. True, in this age, he needs to be more aware of the circumstances, but in my friend's case, it was a needed and appreciated hug.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

I don't remember whether it was as his role of a VP, or a senator, he would welcome all the new senators hug all the family members I remember he once happily hugged the grandma..

The point is that if a woman feels uncomfortable, that's her right. There is no point here in anyone saying that they believe her or not. The only question is, as usual, the timing.

compassion for another's suffering (lesser or greater) can do to bring about healing. He offers the same to others when he perceives need (whether a kind word, a touch or a prayer). Joseph Biden is the healer this nation needs. He is old. He is tired. But Duty calls. I believe he will answer the call. Joseph Robinette Biden is a human being. ...right or wrong, nor any timetable. Something I learned from my mom, some years after my younger brother and only sibling died in 1978 in a scuba diving adventure gone wrong, was that she wished people hadn't been afraid to talk about him after he died. When people would share a memory, it offered her some comfort that he was not forgotten.

People always want to know if there is anything they can do in the aftermath of the death of a beloved family member. If, but only if, it would be comforting to you or your mom, you could let friends and family know that it would be OK to talk about your dad. My mom said she knew people didn't talk about my brother because they feared making her sad, but her answer to that was that"I couldn't be any sadder than I already am, so talking about him doesn't make it worse."

Wishing you strength and serenity.

It helped when my little dog died and I was crying for months but when total strangers shared their stories and understood it did make me feel better in a way.
