Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumThings you actually LIKE about the candidate you oppose the MOST.
I was thinking this morning about how toxic things have gotten (Yes, I do know I've been part of it). One thing we all agree on is getting Tramp out of office. So, I was thinking, maybe to diffuse a bit of the toxicity.. maybe a thread where people can post something('s) that the actually "LIKE" (positive things please, no snarky bullshit like "I like that he's/she's going to lose). So here goes. Also, I don't think this needs saying, but this is about things you like about the Democratic Party candidate that you oppose the most.
The one I oppose the most is Bernie Sanders, but
I like his positions on most issues. I think they are ambitious and extremely humane. This is admirable.
I do like that he's extremely consistent.
I do like that he energizes significant numbers of people that don't traditionally vote.
I do like that his energy is having a leftward movement effect on our party.
I do actually get some enjoyment from that "grumpy grandpa" persona he runs with.

(2,446 posts)He has employed people that will target Trumps personality disorder. Other candidates and their surrogates attack each other. Sort of like you did. This is an attempt to get people to say something nice, or say nothing at all. There are lots of opportunities for that.
Tulsi Gabbard is my least favorite candidate. I like that she served in the military honorably.

Bloomberg is next to last on my list and the thing I like best about him is he is running squarely against drumpf, not the rest of the field, and has said he would not run as a 3rd party candidate and would donate his network to the person who has the D behind their name for the general election.
It's hard saying good things and not including the other more negative stuff that tilts the field, IMO. This was a good exercise for me in civility, thank you for posing this question.

(11,990 posts)I like that he is known to have always been someone focussed on actual data.
I like that he is directing so much energy on fighting Trump (and as a bonus, that he seems to specifically be trying to get under his skin).
I like that he is committed to providing substantial support to our nominee, no matter who it is.

(5,432 posts)but I oppose joe biden who is incredibly experienced, particularly in foreign affairs, probably the most important area to fix in the post trump era. biden knows the players, at home and abroad, that will be needed to restore order.

Pete - who I don't support only because I know there are loads of people who would tell a pollster, "Sure I'd vote for a gay guy," when they never would - I think he's a terrific candidate other than that.

(65,179 posts)For Bloomberg:
- I looked up his positions, and at least many of them are commonly accepted in the party
- He has LOTS of money that can be used to beat Trump. And that is also the case if he isnt the nominee
- I like how he insults Trump right back

(13,485 posts)Positive: I don't think he's really running, I think he's undercutting Trump to give the value to the final front runner. My tin hat on?... sure.
My third I won't mention because my reason for not liking this person is too subtle for most and it just won't matter. I'll vote for the person if it's necessary. To me, the ends don't justify the means for any candidate.
My first is Gabbard whom I positively eluded to previously.
