Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumA Bloomberg/Warren ticket could be unstoppable
I would love to see this happen. Despite some of their policy disagreements I really think they would be a formidable challenge to Trump as they would unite both the moderates and progressives. Bloomberg is a New Yorker and knows how to handle Trump, plus hes got the money to outspend him. Warren would be a fantastic VP. Not having to focus on the foreign affairs/strategic policy making would free her up to focus on environmental and minority issues, which is really her forte (I think she has a better handle on that kind of stuff than any other candidate).

(2,343 posts)I tried discussing the debate with a handful of coworkers at various times today. None had watched it. About 60% of the ones I asked were Dems. The others were Reps who are political junkies who I thought my have watched.
Just not as much engagement in the political process as I would have guess at this point.

(3,384 posts)Or are they pretty apathetic at this point? Though, fatigue should not be confused w apathy. I am occasionally guilty of the fatigue part myself.
But, I am curious as to what conservatives think about Bloomberg.

(2,343 posts)But in my small sample (six), none had watched.
I have to think, though, Bloomberg has appeal to those Reps who don't like Trump or even Dems who fall in the meaty part of the political spectrum bell curve.
Today's electorate is hard to figure out, quite honestly.

(3,384 posts)You can talk, reason and discuss w conservatives but not so much w cultists. I saw too many cultists and ended up deleting them from my fb. Just couldn't listen to one more cry about fake news when presented w facts. If you find some reasonable conservatives and talk to them, please post it. I'd love to hear what they have to say.

(146,288 posts)be in his 70s, the most successful VP choice will be someone younger, but popular. In 2020, people are going to look at the ticket and see who would take over if an elderly President dies, and who might be the candidate in 2024 if the new President serves for just one term. So, who are the obvious potential VP choices, among the current candidates?
Pete Buttigieg - He has had some good success in his campaign, and certainly fits the youthfulness model.
Amy Klobuchar - She has also done well, recently, is young enough, and is also a woman, which is another plus.
I'd bet on one of those two, whoever the nominee for President is.

(113,047 posts)It is apparent in your post.
Your claim that her forte is environmental and minority issues is very odd. Yes, those are issues she is concerned with and has strong plans to address them with urgency, but, it is fairly well known that Warrens forte is unmasking the corruption in the financial industry that affects most every other issue.
Odd that you wouldn t be aware of that at this point.
