Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumMy worry with Bernie is less older Cuban Americans but
more the over 65 demographic nationally. This age group votes in force and are, by far, to be most hostile toward a hint of socialism. Sanders finished 5th in Nevada with the most dependable voter demographic nationally. Young people will come out but how many? I'm around teens all day and they seem a bit oblivious. Are the young adults nationally as political as the ones at the rallies, ect? What say you?

What's the breakdown of "older Cuban-American" votes for Hillary versus Trump? If Hillary couldn't win those Republican votes, why is there an expectation that Bernie should?

(8,090 posts)DU is in a panic over how we're hosed in Florida because... "Bernie." No one will answer why he should win that state when Hillary didn't.
Voters over 65 tend to skew Republican. Did Hillary carry that voting bloc? Is Bernie expected to? Or any candidate with a "D" behind his or her name?

(13,390 posts)In fact they outnumber boomers. They are having an impact. I think it's relevant that that some of their parents were born after the USSR ceased to be. It's a different world from the one Boomers are most familiar with. I have been watching younger politicians and political activists for a few years now, and I trust them more than conventional wisdom they are proving wrong.
