Former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg noted that Donald Trump's administration has undermined the agencies now rushing to address the deadly new virus.

From the Feb. 25 Democratic presidential debate:

MIKE BLOOMBERG: If you have good public health, then you can do things.

And one of the great problems today: You read about the virus.

What's really happening here is the president fired the pandemic specialists in this country two years ago. So there's nobody here to figure out what the hell we should be doing.

And he's defunded Centers for Disease Control [and Prevention] — CDC — so we don't have the organization we need.

This is a very serious thing. As you see, the stock market is falling apart because people are really worried and they should be. We don't have anybody to respond.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Himself and getting re-elected , not about Americans getting it which makes him look bad after his cuts. Its all about trump for trump, not anyone else.

Trump and his cronies were so shortsighted, paranoid and incompetent that they cut funding and hollowed out the very departments that would have been ready to take on this challenge, prepare and inform the public and gear up for an impending emergency. The infrastructure was in place but, of course, that was through the efforts of the Obama Administration, so it all had to be dissembled and dumped. Out of spite.

Now, they're pretending they can simply ignore the risk and/or lie their faces off. Problem is? Viruses know nothing about politics or elections. They're equal opportunity pathogens.

Happy days!

In their skewed world, less government is always best. Who do they they think should handle this developing crisis?

We used to be the leader in scientific and medical discoveries. The cure for these super bugs will be found in university labs around the country but not without funding.
