So why are the SC polls NOT polling many young people? On purpose or not?

So Clemson thinks that only polling 3% of people aged 18-24 is a representative poll. With 84% of people polled over 41 yrs old.

AND PPP polling has 66% of people polled older than 46

1. Its hard to poll young people

They rarely have landline phones and use their cell phones mostly for texting and the Internet. If they get a call, they probably wouldn't answer it, if they didn't know the caller. It would be pretty hard to reach that demographic.

3. don't think so

I've seen many polls where there is a statistically valid amount of cell phone calls to younger demographics.

So how about this?

This poll sampled 53% African American, 39% whites.
Census 2000 says So. Carolina is 69% white and 31% African American.

Yes, South Carolina has changed ethnically, but the significant change is with Latinos. There the Arnold School for Public Health Consortium for Latino Immigration Studies says South Carolina has a foreign born population growth that is higher than any other state.

The study doesn't even ask about Latinos. Maybe they lumped them in "other?" That's 7 per cent.

6. Yeah but almost all the AA are democrats.

Most whites in SC aren't.

I completely agree about the age being an issue though.

There's a strong youth movement here. Relatively speaking anyway.

8. That's interesting

I honestly don't know anyone of any age who answers their cell phone if they don't recognize the number and the young people I know rarely even use their phones as actual phones.

4. Voting in South Carolina (esp. among African Americans) skews much older...

If Sanders is right about all the new voters waiting for a real progressive, he can prove everybody wrong on Saturday.

7. He'll probably win.

It isn't going to be by double digits though IMO.

10. South Carolina, being Republican-run,

doesn't enable college students to register, probably?
