Nancy Pelosi says Bernie Sanders shouldn't drop out of race

Nancy Pelosi said Thursday that she did not want Bernie Sanders to drop his now-long-shot candidacy for the Democratic presidential nomination — and that she was looking forward to his debate Sunday with Joe Biden.

“In case you were going to ask, no, I don’t think Bernie Sanders should get out of the race. I think — I’m a grassroots person,” the House speaker told reporters at the Capitol during her weekly press briefing.

“I know the enthusiasm of supporters for candidates and they want to see it play out for the ideas, the causes that the candidates advances, for the opportunity for people to show their support,” the California Democrat continued.

“I congratulate both of the candidates as they go into debate on Sunday. I wish them both well.”

Far too often, I get the same feeling of being attacked by the Biden supporter posts I read here that I get from the garbage spewed by Fox or AM Hate radio toward "liberal leftist scum".

However slight the chance is of getting non-Democratic Sanders supporters to vote for Biden, it's only made slimmer by insulting them that way. I've stated that I deeply resent my democratic vote being taken for granted. But it's guaranteed that non-democrats will not vote for Biden when insulted nonstop in this fashion.

If you're sure we don't need them to win, then by all means, carry on. Just remember we'll all pay the price if that's not the case.

I said the other day he should stay in for the debate and the March 17 contests in Florida, Ohio, Illinois, and Arizona. But short of a big turnaround surprise I think he should then bow out—not just for the party or the country but for himself. You don’t want to go out a total loser.

PS: Nancy is just playing good cop. She’ll let others do the dirty work. She’s done this before. And it’s smart.

I would have to think the pressure on Michelle Obama would be IMMENSE to step into the breach. Hillary might try, but I so so fear a repeat of 2016 if that happens. Although it is obviously completely unfair, she still remains incredible unpopular and would be like feeding rocket fuel to the Rethugs, the MAGATs, and the swing voters who either hate her or will not vote for her.

I do not see Pete has having ANY chance there (to top the ticket, he would be aces as Michelle's VP.) Maybe Warren? That would be a great compromise.

who has publicly called for an immediate end to the primary including Sunday's debate (I heard him say it on Tuesday). Bernie is not going to withdraw voluntarily, and he's publicly hinting that he was done wrong (I heard that too, yesterday). Now AOC is going on FOX to say it more explicitly.

Long and short: Sanders and his supporters are going to a problem whenever it happens so the sooner party leaders step in and get it over with, the better.
