Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumWould love to see some polling on white female Trump voters.
We all know the number.
53% of white women voted for Trump in 2016.
What I would like to see is a poll of those voters to see how many still support Trump.
Then, of those who no longer support him or are open to voting for a Dem this time, Id like to see who their favorites are in the Dem primary field.
If anybody has seen such polling or surveys that I may have missed, please post them.

(7,142 posts)They tell me, (don't bash the messenger) no way they could vote for Hillary. The Russians, Breitbart, Fox, the Mercers, did a fine job of demonizing Hillary.
They plan to vote for Trump again because they say the economy is doing fine. They tell me that Trump is a bad person but he is doing a good job.

(507 posts)a 'white' woman, now 80, 3 time Cancer Survivor has posted on her FB page, that she will RUN, not walk to vote for that asinine buttplug of individual. I truly never thought my parents were so racist till this azzhat came to be. They were even spouting his nonsense about Obama's Birth Certificate. Even when said Certified Birth Certificate was produced, they both responded in true dump fashion "That's fake". When I responded " you have proof of that " neither said a word, but continued their FB posts. I truly believe they both will go to their graves as tried and true Confederate Flag loving racists. Neither, the people who raised me.

(1,663 posts)I'm not sure a white woman who would vote FOR -45 would be interested in any of our candidates. The truth is that most white women are republicans and as long as they continue to benefit most from the patriarchy, they will continue to be so. Keep in mind that 76% of white women voted for Kemp in 2018, the republican candidate for governor in Georgia, against Stacey Abrams. In 2017 63% of white women voted against Democratic candidate Doug Jones (Alabama) and FOR the disgraced Roy Moore.
I know that this is a bit unrelated, but consider this: both republicans on ABC's The View are white women whom we only know exist because of who their fathers are. For a lot of white women, conservatism works. They don't feel oppressed. There is nothing we can offer them.
I think the real treasure trove of voters is among those who buy the crap (sometimes sold among those in a democrat's clothing) that both parties are the same. I believe it's most beneficial for us to invest in bringing in New voters and folks who stayed home rather than vote.
From what I can see, dump still enjoys about a 54% approval rate among white women. I've posted a few articles and links.

Why would we want a candidate who appeals to a trumplethinskin voter? What would we be appealing to, exactly?

(1,663 posts)I don't mean to be depressing. I do mean to stay focused on forming winning coalitions. Looking at younger white women, keeping the reliable folks motivated, and reaching out to those on the sidelines is the way forward.
All of this is only my opinion. I believe that our policies will be to everyone's benefit. I'm just not sure the folks on the other side want EVERYONE to benefit.

(4,187 posts)who was ultra-conservative and almost certainly voted for Trump. She didnt have a college degree. Nonetheless, she considered herself a well-read intellectual and was extremely resentful of real intellectuals. She thought they were arrogant for not treating her like their equal. She was also completely brainwashed by Fox. I asked her repeatedly to avoid talking about politics, but she was so full of hate, anger, and jealousy that she couldnt control herself. She was also a very fearful person in general. Her husband was a lawyer, so Im sure they were reasonably well off.
I am certain that she is happy with Trump and will be voting for him enthusiastically, in addition to badmouthing Democrats to anyone who will listen.
I know its just one anecdote, but I wanted to share it.

(1,954 posts)Mother, grandmother and wife all voted for Trump (or stayed home, as my wife did), and there's at least four PhDs between the three of them (I don't talk to my grandmother about her past all that often, at her request). They were vehemently anti-Clinton. They were (almost) as anti-Trump and were willing to vote for Sanders, but would not cross the line and vote for Clinton when push came to shove.
