1. They ended up being one of the most accurate polls in 2016.

The large sample size gives it some credibility.

is that the Dems have a candidate that can beat trump. They can't be too far left either.

2. The big news is how low the local candidate is doing

I wonder if Mayer Pete will do up in the next one. If not, then I will be completely convinced that however things look on this board, it has very little to do with average voters.

5. D.U. has always been out of touch with "Average" voters, like it or not.

Those of us here tend to follow politics a good deal more closely than the average joe sitting at the counter in a diner. Note, for instance, the disconnect between Harris here at 12% and Harris in the real world polling rarely higher than 7-8%, even in the south, and losing out to Sanders routinely (but not always) among black voters, though DUers vehemently argue otherwise. The same case can be made against Sanders with young people, and Biden with old people. The formula doesn't really change; DU is not representative of the world at large.

The same happened here in 2016, and to an extent in 2018, and in 2012/14 before that. It's a tale as old as DU itself. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it's easy to get drawn into the echo chamber here and assume that views presented are dominant or even prevalent in the real world. The truth being, the average day-to-day voter just doesn't give a shit about whatever the daily outrage de-jure is on D.U.

12. Many of us

want Biden because he can beat trump. trump needs Pennsylvania. Even though Biden is living in Delaware, Pennsylvania is the state where he was born and raised and he can win it. Biden has a close relationship with blue collar workers who know trump hurt them. He won't take any of trumps crap. I really think Biden running with a strong progressive Dem woman (Harris) would be an excellent ticket.

10. I hope you're right. Biden's got momentum fresh off that touching scandal and the lead ATM.

The longer he waits, IMO, the longer voters have time to find other options and run with them. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I don't see how waiting longer will improve his chances.

19. ATM is "At the Moment".

Easy, d'Artagnan, easy. I'm on Biden's side, the whole thing was much ado about nothing. Sexual or non-sexual, there was a large public dialogue and ostensibly-sourced outrage regarding Biden's actions so I class it as "Scandalous" since it fits the definition. Also "Kerfluffle" wouldn't fit in the subject line.

29. Actually the whoie timing of the "scandal" was to avoid

talking about Sanders scandal with the harassment charges during his 2016 campaign. It was a what-about-Biden switcheroo. There are quotes from Lucy Flores that say that was her motive for coming forward after 5 years.

Have you heard that one from your GOP acquaintances? I think it's become their new talking point.

Now these are the same people that, when Obama's approval lingered in the 40s for any length of time, they'd guffaw at "how unpopular he is."
