Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumAre we not supposed to post articles with criticism or warning about the
press coverage of the Democratic primaries or the candidates themselves in this forum? How can we get better or demand better coverage if we can't?

(3,259 posts)That seems to answer your question.

I reread the rule because I was puzzled by alerts that involved criticism, not trashing. As I understand it, criticism is OK but not from RW sites as that involves another rule.

(2,113 posts)with people posting many threads of the exact same article or just random comments that should not even be a new thread. This buries any effort of discussing any but two specific candidates. I used settings to trash the first and last name of one candidate in order to be able to read things about other candidates due to it being excessive. I have spent the last few days clicking on the trash this thread option for repetitive threads but after refreshing the page there are 5 more similar threads to replace them. Now I'm at the point where I'm going to have to add a second candidate to the trash settings just to be able to read about other primary candidates. Come on people...there are individual candidate forums too. It's great to love your candidate but it's getting to be a bit much.

(24,329 posts)And it's fine to post 100 of the same thing in that candidate's forum.
Because that's where you get to cheer your candidate on and no one can come in and snivel and undermine
BUt, you are correct (IMO) that there are too many of the same story being posted

(25,471 posts)I posted a similar sentiment in another thread and got chastised for it, but I agree with your assessment. We don't need a dozen copies of every story posted by the same handful of posters every time a candidate does something - or anything. It just clutters up the board.

There's a couple of candidates whose fans post every time they hiccup.

(24,329 posts)I don't buy into this, saying anything "negative" about a candidate is harmful and plays into the hands of the republikkans.
Let's face it, if we know, they know too.
It's not like they peruse DU looking for super secret unknowns about our potential nominees

(8,652 posts)I am so pissed at the way this has unfolded that I may not post again anywhere on DU until a nominee is chosen. I have been here since 2004 and have donated every year.
I am re-thinking everything. I feel this whole process, as well intended as it may have been, hurts the Democrats chances of winning in 2020.

(25,471 posts)I've been here since nearly the beginning and it's like this every time. It's actually an improvement over the early days because the Primary stuff has its own forum and doesn't infect the rest of the site, but the tone is pretty much the same. As the other respondent noted, it's actually pretty tame thus far compared to 2016, but it's also quite early in the process.
