I Agree With Barack Obama

The first consideration in choosing a Vice-Presidential running mate for a newly nominated candidate for President of the United States is that the person being considered for VP is qualified to serve as President if the need arises. The second consideration is if that person being considered can help the ticket win in the General Election.

I concur with Barack Obama, the smartest Democratic politician in the past 65 years.

primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

These are not normal times and have proven that just about anyone can hold the presidential title. That being said, I think the fact that we need to win back that title makes the second consideration more important than the first.....imo.

coming up for 2020.

The Mueller report acknowledges the interference in 2016.

Do you think it best for candidates to ignore it or not address it? Do you not think it will not be a factor in 2020?

Are you up-to-date are current Russian efforts? Can you share?

...I think calling for impeachment is too risky until we hear from Mueller.

Who knows how Bob Mueller will testify? If he states, under oath, that Trump should not be charged, no matter what we think, we're fucked. I don't want to take anything for granted. I can not believe that Don Jr. was not charged, therefore I am not going to jump to the conclusion that Mueller will back us up on impeachment. That's one reason I don't want our candidates out on a limb until we hear from Mueller. On this issue, I agree with Kamala Harris. Let's keep our powder dry until Mueller testifies.

As far as the interference is concerned, I think the voting public is a little more savvy on the Russian Interference. In other countries in which Russia has interfered, educating the voters was the best defense. That's the route we should go, too. If we find that a Russian article, ad or post favors a candidate, we should expose it and that candidate, especially a Democrat, should denounce it.

In this way, it will have effect of hurting Trump instead of helping him if the Russians continue trying to influence our electorate.

...because of the Republican President.

We don't need to pick up a million more votes in California or New York. We need to pick up 1% in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

The problem with so many Democrats is the lack of a fundamental understanding of politics.

It's less about philosophy, and more about math.

The formula that I described also has the "helping the ticket win" portion. Although I agree that Hillary was the most qualified person ever to run for the presidency, she would not complete the second part to the two part reasoning. Kamala Harris does.

But it is always good to question our leaders' proposals and decisions. That is the essence of democracy.

When Stephen Miller stared dead-eyed into a camera and said that our President's powers to protect or whatever (not quoting directly here) "Will Not be questioned", the cold that went through me was about more than the ice in his soul. Those were some of the most ominous words ever spoken.

I admire Obama greatly and I was proud to vote for him. But I will always question. In fact, years ago after I broke out of my fundamentalist Christian mindset I realized that I didn't need "all the answers"--all I really needed was the questions.
