MINNEAPOLIS -- Sen. Amy Klobuchar, a presidential hopeful, has built a reputation as a champion for consumer safety.
The Minnesota Democrat has also advocated for the medical device industry a big employer in her home state in ways that complicate her reputation as a consumer defender.
A review of Klobuchar's record by The Associated Press and the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists found that Klobuchar has advanced proposals championed by the medical device industry that some consumer advocates claim would put patients' safety at risk. They say she has put the industry's demands above patient safety.
Klobuchar counters that she has pushed to improve safety while cutting red tape that slows the approval of medical devices.

(112,150 posts)Among the definitions of the word:
* to make or produce, esp. with difficulty
* to move forward in a determined way although progress is difficult

However, being mindful that words do have more than one meaning I went ahead and changed it to established.

(112,150 posts)I believe that I established that I'm credible. I doubt that posting an exact headline that contains a verb with multiple meanings will have any impact on such. Get back with me when you have a comparable tenure and welcome to DU.

(7,277 posts)Took a break after the hack. Your point is? Posts misleading headline and defends it with an ad hominem? Does you no credit.

(112,150 posts)I didn't consider the alternate meaning of the word "forged" when I posted the thread. When the alternate meaning of the word was mentioned in the replies, I changed the title of the thread to remove the ambiguity even though the usage of the word "forged" is correct in the headline. I apologize if you feel that you were mislead, but if you end up posting a lot of threads, then you might run into a similar problem.
FWIW, suggesting that I am not credible, then doubling down on it after I changed the title of the thread was undeserved and could be interpreted as an ad hominem attack. I did not alert on either of your posts since I realize that this is a discussion about how words are interpreted.
If you have any further issues with the headline from the article, then contact the Fort Worth Star-Telegram or the McClatchy Company instead of taking it out on me since I'm not the headline writer. It was not my intention to mislead anyone and I attempted to mitigate the situation by changing the title to "established" instead. After reading the article it is abundantly clear what context the word "forged" was used in the headline.

(47,476 posts)Corporations, you know, that many "new Democrats" don't like.
Well, both my and my spouse's parents worked for corporations. Were union members. They afforded to send us to college - when it was still affordable - and help us when we got married.
Both of u worked for corporations that allowed us to live comfortably - more or less - with, yes, too many episodes of unemployment. But we had decent income and benefits that allowed us to contribute to worthy cause.
