Out on a rhetorical limb? On the stump, Beto says Bibi's a racist,′ and Trump sounds like a fascist

In the last week, Beto O’Rourke, stumping in Iowa, a state known for its niceness, said that President Donald Trump’s language recalls the fascist rhetoric of the Third Reich and described Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a “racist.”

Speaking at a town hall here at the University of Iowa, the former Texas congressman denounced Netanyahu’s pledge Saturday that he would annex Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank if he wins another term in Tuesday’s Israeli general election. Netanyahu’s proposed annexation, O’Rourke said, “will make peace in the long term impossible.”

In response to a voter’s question about his policy toward Israel and Palestinian rights, O’Rourke reiterated his support for a two-state solution and accused Netanyahu of having “joined forces with far-right parties who are inherently racist in their speech and the way that they want to treat their fellow human beings in that part of the world.”

He then went further, telling reporters in a gaggle afterward that Netanyahu is a “racist.”

"Unless you get newsletters from organizations such as The Jewish Voice for Peace, you wouldn't have heard about discrimination against Ethiopian Jews but actually they're treated appalling by Israel. Just google the plight of Ethiopian Jews in Israel. Netanyahu is nothing if not racist, which is why the white nationalists admire him so much. In fact Zionism is an ideology predicated on racism. It was a former Zionist, Israel Shahak, in fact who denounced it for that reason about 50 years ago, writing that humane Zionism was a contradiction in terms."
