Every morning, I log on to my schedule, look at the long list, and do a facepalm. This is after waking up tired from the day before.
I found out yesterday that providers over at the mainstream clinic are seeing as few as eight patients a day, while we're slammed over here, just because we're the red-headed stepclinic. "Ah, just send 'em over to the homeless clinic. Overflow is what they're there for". (No, we fucking-well are NOT!)
The pediatricians are keeping banker's hours over there, while I see pedes patients here in what is essentially an adult medicine clinic. I think they could return the favor a little, seeing as it's an international pandemic.
Week after next, I have off. I just need the strength to make it until then...
We're so slammed at the clinic, I had to create a COVID-19 text template, to save time charting
visits.
It's a bullet-point auto-text template that I'm using for every patient. All I have to do is paste it into the text field of the patient's visit note, fill in the blanks, and add some patient-specific details.
We saw fourteen patients yesterday, just for COVID-19. That's not counting all of the patients coming in for unrelated reasons (even though we're begging people with non-urgent conditions to stay home and relieve the overcrowding...)
Needless to say, we're having to tell the patients who routinely hit me with "Oh, one more thing!" that there just ain't no time...
First drink in a month. I don't know how I went that long...
A slug of vodka, a glass of wine, and now a snifter of brandy...
