Alex Jones Producer Tries to Implicate Megyn Kelly on Witness Stand in Sandy Hook Suit

It was a trap!

Alex Jones Producer Tries to Implicate Megyn Kelly on Witness Stand Claiming She ‘Trapped’ Jones Into Talking About Sandy Hook

The Alex Jones defamation trial continued yesterday with InfoWars producer Daria Karpova taking the stand once again where she implicated Megyn Kelly as the reason Jones returned to his theories on Sandy Hook.

Jones is currently facing a lawsuit from the families of Sandy Hook victims who are seeking damages after the far-right radio host spread theories that the entire shooting back in 2012 was a hoax.

Alex Jones’ attorney F. Andino Reynal led the questioning of Karpova and asked why, after choosing to be silent on the topic of Sandy Hook for several months, Jones began to speak out about the tragedy once more in 2017.

Reynal asked about Jones breaking his silence, saying, “What if anything caused that to change in 2017?”

“I believe that was when Megyn Kelly had reached out to Alex Jones, asking him to appear on her show,” Karpova said.

“How did Alex respond to the invitation by Megyn Kelly,” Reynal pressed.

“At first he — I mean he knows it’s — they lie, but she convinced him that it’s not going to be about Sandy Hook because he explicitly did not want to continue to bring — bring up Sandy Hook and aggravate parents in any way,” Karpova replied.

“She convinced him that this was gonna be a friendly interview — that Sandy Hook was not gonna come up and that, um, it — she just wanted to get to know him as a personality and as a man,” she added.

There's more tomfoolery at the link. But basically, his team is arguing that she backed him into a corner where his only way out would be to acknowledge that the shooting that happened actually happened. That monster.

=====

In an interview with The Washington Post on Wednesday, Wade, who has been working at the Old Bell Hotel in Malmesbury for only two weeks, said he could see the driver, who “appeared drunk,” was getting ready to back away from the scene. A female passenger had left the vehicle.

“There’s no way you’re going anywhere,” Wade told the man, who he said was “swaying” and “staggering” all over the place. He said the man was determined to escape, heading off on foot, though unable to run fast due to his physical state.

Wearing his slip-resistant rubber kitchen clogs and chef’s overalls, Wade chased the driver for 15 to 20 minutes, through bushes, allotments and gardens before the pair ended up at an animal sanctuary.

This was when the real confrontation began.

“I could see this massive emu,” Wade said. “I’m six foot tall and it was bigger than me.”

Wade said he could tell the bird, which was surrounded by its offspring, was likely to spring into defense if anyone intruded its enclosure.

“Mate, don’t go in there,” Wade warned the man, who he said ignored his advice, replying: “I can fight emus” before heading into the animal’s pen — where he was repeatedly pecked.

“It was stabbing his body all over,” Wade said, causing the man to curse and unsuccessfully attempt to “kung-fu-kick” the animal away.

The bird kept stabbing at the driver, who eventually gave up, fled the pen and headed toward a river — while Wade took the opportunity to flag down a nearby police car...

Just 8 Out of 50 Republican Senators Say They Are Watching Explosive Jan. 6 Hearings

Source: Mediaite

Just eight Republican senators have said they are watching the explosive hearings from the House select committee investigating former President Donald Trump and the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol, according to a new report.

{snip}

{RawStory's Matt} Laslo interviewed all 50 Republicans in the senate over the last month. He found that only eight “report actively tuning in to some or all of the proceedings.” Another 10 senators said they’re “reading press clippings or plan to read the special committee’s report once they conclude their investigation.”

“The other 32 Republican senators have actively tuned out the committee,” Laslo reported.

“No. I have zero interest in what I think is an extended Democrat campaign commercial,” Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) told Laslo. “So boring.”

Hawley has no doubt heard about Thursday’s hearing. The Missouri Republican featured prominently in an exhibit showing how he fled from the rioters he had saluted with a raised fist earlier in the day.

So basically Republicans are treating the hearings on how they kow-towed to a would be dictator the same way they treat the climate change crisis. If you ignore a problem hard enough for long enough, that problem will go away... or at least turn into a different problem.

We should still be worried about november, but here's a small ray of hope

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/07/21/gops-2022-small-dollar-fundraising-sputters-democrats-lead-grows/

The Democrats are seeing a surge of small dollar donors. Republicans are not doing so well. They'll still have more money, of course. But they're still enough democracy left mixed up in this bitter soup to give us a fighting chance.

How Trump's impending candidacy helps America

Trump, it looks like, is getting ready to announce his 2024 candidacy. This is, of course, bad for the country. America has never had a more popular or effective politician utterly dedicated to destroying democracy. He should wish him campaign still, even if that means wishing well to any Republican opposing him, even Ron DeSantis, who sucks and policy wise might even be worse than Trump

But there are some upsides to Trump getting an early start in this next election cycle.

1) the main motivation for him getting early start is avoiding prosecution in Fulton County Georgia. The Fulton DA has already indicated that her investigation of Trump violating Georgia law by interfering in Raffensperger's duties as Secretary of State would be impeded and possibly curtailed once the 2024 election cycle began. Now this seems bad, but it's an absolute admission that there's a "there" there. It will intensify attention on Trump's guilt and his specific lies in Georgia.

2) All this will tempt Trump's rivals to bring changes of corruption against Trump, making for a messier primary season.

3) It will jump start the money race among Republican candidates for president, diverting funds out of 2022 elections.

4) It will raise the profile of the 2022 elections threats, which are critical to keeping historically apathetic Democratic voters more engaged.

5) It will give Trump rivals, including the anemic never Trumper movement, more time to sharpen the attacks on Trump & his larcenous approach to fundraising, which is an issue that strongly cuts in favor of the Democrats.

6) And finally, when Republicans finally start to reclaim their balls and attack Trump, Trump will start to fight back. One thing he's good at is damaging his rivals. He might weaken democracy every time he opens his mouth, but the more time he spends disrupting the GOP, the more obvious it will demonstrate how unAmerican the tribal Republican party has become

The news headlines about the J6 hearing are about the plot to seize the voting machine

But the big news is how the committee connected Trump aides to violent groups and Trump instigating the call to and armed rally for January 6th, along with him directly inciting the March to the Capitol.

The main story is how they have connected the dots to premeditation of criminal activity, not the failed consideration of simple federal overreach. I mean, militarizing the big lie is a big deal too, but it never got past the contemplation stage.

I don't want Trump prosecuted because he had bad ideas. I don't want him prosecuted because he had zero concept of how a democracy works. I want him prosecuted because he committed and incited actual crimes against the Republic and against the rule of law.

Looking 4 recommendation for an audiobook device

My dad is 86 and just had a stroke. He has never been good with technology or cell phones, but now he's really struggling with fine motor control.

I'm looking for recommendations for a device that can download and play audiobooks for him to listen to, maybe a dedicated device.

Anyone familiar with something that might do this?
