Trump's cult is the half of white America made up of miserable jerks

People who are spoon fed daily diet of anger and resentment. It’s why white entitlement is at epidemic levels in this country.

Trump speaks to these people in their language and nothing that concerns ourselves about him matters to them, only the fact that he appalls, disgusts and angers us. They consider our pain and anger as their entertainment, because their lives are so miserable and angry otherwise.

They’re not going to be reached, so they need to be disenfranchised instead. The stranglehold that they have on our government needs to be removed. The courts need to undo gerrymandering and we need to fight against them with our votes on every front.

We can’t presume that our arguments will be persuasive for them, because they’re programmed to disregard us no matter what we tell them. Their frames of reference are all askew.

We need to get out the vote and take our government back, in spite of them. When we do, they’re going to attack us again, because nothing means more to them than beating us... Even if what we’re doing with power helps them to prosper as well.

Remember, they will only define themselves by the enemies that they think they hate, even if those people aren’t their enemies at all. That’s all they have to live for. So the best thing to do is just to let them stew in their own juices.

On the other hand, we need to get back to a position where we can do the best for all, even if we have to drag Trump’ Cult behind us kicking and screaming.

So true...

If I have to thank Donald Trump for one single thing...

It would be the fact that his very identity as a Republican has engineered the destruction of all moral authority that right wing conservative Republicans claim to possess.

They have absolutely none.

Not just that, but also the fact that the GOP has become so utterly morally bankrupt that it has fully morphed into to party of white nationalism, rape, misogyny, tax theft, gun violence, pedophilia, xenophobia, support of foreign adversaries, the decline of American global leadership, opposition to the rule of law and the bane of basic human decency.

It’s not a bug that so many Republicans who have ran for office, and those who have had the misfortune of getting elected to office turn out to be morally reprehensible scumbags... It’s now a feature.

The Republicans are now functionaries of Trump’s criminal enterprise. Anyone who votes for Trump and those politicians who support him are the same.

They have all tossed any credibility that they’ve once claimed on the trash heap of history.

All there remains now is to excise the criminality of Trump and his sycophants from whatever we have left of a legitimate government by both root and stem.

If we can’t or won’t, our failure to do so will have serious repercussions for the fate of nation for generations to come.

Yeah, Sessions was a reconstituted Confederate planter and Whitaker was as dumb as a bag of rocks...

But both of them were smart enough to jump ship before they ended up looking like the reincarnation of John Mitchell.

Barr is far too deviously clever for his own good. He’s painting himself into a corner as Trump’s sycophant, from which he’ll find it hard to escape. Were he to resign tomorrow, he might have a chance to save his own bacon. If not, he’s doomed himself and whatever is left of his paltry reputation to an ignominious posterity.

Like so many other fools, he has trusted Donald Trump to his own professional and personal peril.

If he’ll remain at his post, serving as Trump’s Praetorian Guard, he’ll most likely end up doing time. It couldn’t happen to a better toady.

He’s clearly to close to the swamp sucking him under to have a comprehensive perspective of his own perilous predicament.

I watched the hearing mostly on C-Span today...

And although I do appreciate the commercial-free and pundit-free segments between takes, it means that the viewers have to endure the call-in parts of the programming from a lot of people who have no idea what the fuck they’re talking about.

As you all know, while some C-Span callers chime in with some pretty keen observations, relevant questions and opinions, other callers provide a textbook example of the Dunning-Kruger effect in action.

It seems that much of the people in red America are impelled to share their irrational anger, admissions of being duped by Fox News and Trump and basic ignorance, even after seeing everything that you and I had seen in those hearings.

Clearly, it’s as if they’re blind people who have never seen an elephant before, who are trying their best to describe such animal by only feeling the trunk, leg or tail.

If you were to describe the totality of this creature, they would dismiss your description, because their limited senses only give them the ability to classify the shape of an elephant as if it were a snake, a tree or a rope respectively.

Clearly, that’s willful ignorance and it’s almost impossible to overcome. What can one say about people who thought that America was falling apart during the Obama years, only to be doing perfectly with Trump at the helm?

Or those who act as if Trump is above the law and that he and his officials shouldn’t have to endure vigorous congressional oversight?

How about the people who refuse to acknowledge that there was a clear and valid reason to investigate Trump and his campaign and the results of that investigation has shown impeachable offenses by their President?

These people are not willing to accept reality.

The only bright moments that were interspersed in the commentary were provided by callers who backed up their opinions with pertinent facts.

Dunning-Kruger was clearly on display with our red America denizens who thought that knew more than they actually knew, only because they had a iron grip on the faulty propaganda that’s been fed to them. Never mind that none of it is corroborated with reality or documentation. Were one to demand that they show facts, figures and a historical record of their specious claims, none of them could ever comply.

C-Span provides a microcosm of our deep seated faults as a body politic.

We’ve got a long way to go to resolve these issues and put the country back on the right track. None of us should have any misconceptions that any of that will either be easy or automatic.
