A sincere word for the Republican Party...

The PEOPLE are NOT standing behind YOU, they're standing behind President Obama, whom they have elected TWICE and behind the Democratic Party, who has their best interests at heart.

IF they were in fact standing behind you, YOU would be in charge of this government... BUT clearly, YOU are NOT!

The ONLY hold that YOU have on this government has come by hook and by crook, through gerrymandering of the ONLY body susceptible to that practice, The US House of Representatives, and through the millions of dollars given to you by your wealthy masters. It has only granted you an advantage there by the slimmest of margins. It's not like the PEOPLE can't see that.

That does NOT give the Republicans a mandate to destroy Obamacare. Your so-called mandate exists in your own minds, as your way to project your hatred for the President and your actions, which stand squarely against the overall welfare of the American People.

YOU couldn't care less about the American People, that's NO secret either.

IF, through your schemes, YOU cause a shutdown of the government and further harm to the American economy, YOU will pay dearly at the polls for the heretofore future. YOU will make yourselves a regionally significant, minority party for at least another generation and it will all be your fault alone.

The PEOPLE have had enough of YOUR foolishness.

Continue it at your own peril.

Ralph Ellison’s race classic “Invisible Man” banned in North Carolina

The novel has been banned after having been assigned as summer reading in a district under fire for school prayer

Students in Randolph County, North Carolina won’t have access to “Invisible Man.”

That county’s board of education voted 5-2 this week to remove all copies of the Ralph Ellison novel from school libraries, following a parental complaint about the book’s content and language when it was assigned as summer reading in local Randleman High School. “It was a hard read,” said board chair Tommy McDonald, who voted in favor of the ban.

Another board member said, “I didn’t find any literary value.”

“Invisible Man,” which won the National Book Award upon its 1953 publication and which has a place on the Modern Library’s list of the 100 best novels of the twentieth century, appraises the social conditions surrounding blacks in the decades before the eventual civli rights movement; the protagonist is invisible because white society refuses to see him.

The book’s fate is uncertain; a Randleman High School committee has recommended the book remain on shelves there. Randleman has recently been a flashpoint for civil liberties, with the ACLU demanding this month that the school stop invocations of the Lord’s Prayer at football games.
