So what and who is everyone reading

I admit, I've falling off the reading habit and haven't been keeping up with current Feminist thinkers and writers. I'll be first in line for any new release by Margaret Atwood or Marge Piercy...but who's gonna grab this old crones attention. I'm pretty persnickety and all the talk of waves and divisions just makes me a bit weepy. Last I read was some Naomi Wolf...

So spill ....who do you "follow", which blogs are your never misses and who will you fork over the bucks for at the book store?

Here's one of my favorites

Awesome Amendment to "Personhood": the "Spilled Semen" Clause

I posted this in GD but things move so quickly there I wanted to give you all an opportunity to chuckle and chortle with me.

I have been waiting for years for someone to propose this...Thank you State Senator Constance Johnson of Oklahoma for making my day...

"Oklahoma State Senator Constance Johnson, a Democrat, has offered an amendment to the “personhood” bill pending in the state legislature. The pending bill, if passed, would declare that “the unborn child at every stage of development (has) all the rights, privileges, and immunities available to other persons, citizens, and residents of this state.”

Johnson writes that “the Personhood bill would potentially allow governmental intrusion into families’ personal lives by policing what happens to a woman’s eggs without any similar thought to what happens to a man’s sperm.” Her amendment reads:"

Foods of Downton Abbey

If you haven't watched the show Downton Abbey on PBS you are truly missing something wonderful.

I love learning about foods and kitchens of the past and wanted to share this with you all. Check out the meatless sausage recipe!

"There's never a dull day at Downton Abbey, with the estate positively brewing with scandal, intrigue and salacious gossip. And whether the servants are nattering over their breakfast downstairs, or the Granthams and their guests are keeping up appearances over dinner upstairs, there is almost always a common theme running between both classes - food!

Many a suitor has fallen for Lady Mary's charms while sipping on the Grantham's fine wine, while downstairs Cook shouts at Daisy to get a move on with the kidneys.

Indeed, mealtimes were an important part of the everyday lives of Edwardian people, with the servants savouring a moment's respite from their duties over a hard-earned meal, as the upper class put on airs and graces over a sumptuously-laid dining table."
