Is a Pet Dog Really Killed by a Police Officer Every 98 Minutes?

Is a Pet Dog Really Killed by a Police Officer Every 98 Minutes?

In November 2012, police officers in Commerce City, Colorado, received a call about a large dog roaming free in a subdivision. Unbeknownst to the police or the caller, Chloe, a large, three-year-old mixed breed, was not an intruder. A woman in the neighborhood was dog-sitting for a friend, and Chloe had flown the coup.

Eventually, police and an animal control officer cornered the anxious dog in an open garage. A cell phone video shows them debating what to do as Chloe sat and watched. Eventually, one of the officers tasered Chloe. She fell over, then began to run away. As Chloe attempted to flee, an animal control employee snagged her with a catch pole. That should have been the end of the story, except Commerce City Police Officer Robert Price proceeded to shoot Chloe four times with his service weapon, alarming the animal control worker and killing the dog.

Cops shooting dogs when they arguably don't need to is called "puppycide" by opponents (naturally). Animal rights activists and civil libertarians say these shootings are widespread, a result of officers having little-to-no training on how to deal with dogs.

Blaming a 13yr old holding a toy is like blaming the Rape Victim for wearing a dress

Its the delusional SOB jumping to conclusions in his head who is at fault

What we do know is witnesses claim the officers only shouted drop the weapon once from inside their car. The officers failed to identify their selves as law enforcement as prescribe by Supreme Court Decisions governing lawful use of deadly force. The victim was given No Time to drop the toy. Andy Lopez was breaking no laws.

So when some one perceives in their own mind they have a Adult Gang Banger out on a mission with a REAL Weapon before they even approach the scene - THEY and they alone have acted/assumed improperly and are 100% at fault

just the same as if they see a woman wearing a dress and perceive "She Wants it" and Rape her

Answers still few in police shooting of Asheville teen

Answers still few in police shooting of Asheville teen

ASHEVILLE - Samuel Tyson remembers the shouting that woke him on the morning of Sept. 29.

There were multiple voices, and they sounded like commands, although he couldn’t make out what was being said most of the time. But Tyson heard one officer’s statement clearly.

“If I see you, I’m going to shoot,” the 21-year-old UNC Asheville student recalls hearing from his second-floor apartment.

Later came the crack of a single gunshot.

Protesters In Bay Area, Across State Denounce Police Killing Of Andy Lopez

Source: CBS SF

SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) — Hundreds of protesters gathered in Santa Rosa and in cities throughout the Bay Area and the state Saturday to protest the police killing of 13-year-old Andy Lopez in Sonoma County last month as well as what they say is an epidemic of police brutality.

The protests in Santa Rosa, San Francisco, Oakland, Sacramento Los Angeles and elsewhere were part of a “National Day of Action for Andy Lopez” organized by the Answer Coalition and the California Statewide Coalition Against Police Brutality.

Andy was walking and holding a toy AK-47 rifle in rural Sonoma County the afternoon of Oct. 22 when county sheriff’s deputies on patrol in the area spotted him and yelled for him to drop the weapon, according to the sheriff’s office.

When the boy turned toward the deputies, Deputy Erick Gelhaus, 48, shot him seven times, according to authorities.

Chicago Cop Caught Shooting Unarmed Man Gets Off Scot-Free

Chicago Cop Caught Shooting Unarmed Man Gets Off Scot-Free

Cook County prosecutors announced Tuesday that Chicago Police Officer Gildardo Sierra (pictured), who was caught on video shooting an unarmed man 16 times, will not face criminal charges. Prosecutors determined that was Sierra justified in firing the victim, Flint Farmer, multiple times after reasonably mistaking Farmer’s cell phone for a gun

Farmer was Sierra’s third shooting in only six months, with Sierra remaining on the job. Despite ruling Farmer’s shooting justified, the Chicago Police Department’s Superintendent Garry McCarthy told the Chicago Tribune that Sierra should have never been allowed back on the street after the two previous shootings. McCarthy claims the department has no way of tracking officers’ shooting records.

Since police officers are allowed to shoot if they fear for their lives, it makes it nearly impossible for prosecutors to put cops away for unreasonable force.

I hauled my kids out of a pizza parlor and some parents called the police

Happened some 20 yrs ago when I as a father was single parenting my 2 boys.

Very carefully before we entered the pizza parlor I explained to the boys then 5 and 8 yrs old. You will both be given $1 in quarters to play video games – that’s all we can afford. When it is gone we won’t cry for more quarters. There will be no running in the restaurant, there be no fighting over video games, there will be No Temper Tantrums of any kind. Both boys readily agreed and repeated the rules back to me so as to be sure they understood them.

I ordered and paid for the pizza and soda, was at the table waiting for them to bring it out when they began to run into trouble with the conditions.

I told my oldest its time to go. The younger 5 yr old fell to the floor getting ready to start his temper tantrum. I picked up the 5 yr old, placed him kicking and screaming over my shoulder and took the 8yr old by the hand and proceeded to exit the pizza parlor.

Several patrons followed me outside to write down the license plate number of my truck.

After we were home both boys proceeded to their beds, got undressed and got into bed.Once they were calm I took the time to talk to them to explain fully why we had to leave and it was their actions of breaking our agreement which forced the decision.

I also snuck over to the kitchen phone to ask the pizza parlor to “box up” the pizza they never had a chance to deliver to our table

Once they were calmed down and owned up to their own part – I reluctantly gave in and we returned to eat our pizza

ITS CALLED PARENTING FOLKS

and our Family Councilor applauded my actions

The Justice for Andy Lopez Memorial Park is born

Tragic enough the City Council has done nothing. Even worse the Sheriffs Dept has hidden behind laws designed to protect officers identity to suppress information and Whitewash the investigation into why a 13yr old was shot 7 times for carrying a toy

But the Citizens / Youth of this community have gone into action creating the Justice for Andy Lopez Memorial Park

First a slide appeared, then a play house. Even a pole mounted solar powered light sprang up in the empty field along side where Andy walked that fateful day

As I type kids and parents alike are creating the Memorial Park

Police shot unarmed man, drove an armored truck through his door when he did not exit his property

Police shot unarmed man, drove an armored truck through his door when he did not exit his property on command

SPRINGFIELD, VA — A paramilitary force was dispatched to a townhouse after a woman reported a domestic dispute between her and her boyfriend. When her boyfriend stubbornly chose to stay inside his home, police shot him and drove an armored truck through his front door.

The situation began on August 29th around 2:40 p.m. when John Geer — a 46-year-old kitchen designer and installer — was told by his girlfriend that she had decided to leave him. The couple had two daughters together, ages 13 and 17. Emotionally distraught over the breakup, Geer exacerbated the situation by throwing her belongings onto the lawn of their townhouse.

This led to her calling the police. She informed the dispatcher that he owned a firearm. A SWAT team was sent to the quiet cul-du-sac.

Geer’s home was surrounded by armored vehicles and uniformed personnel. A police sniper was photographed lying prone in a neighbor’s yard aiming toward Geer’s residence. Men in helmets and military fatigues cordoned off the neighborhood. Police began making their demands. An armored truck a topside gun turret parked in his yard and prepared for a strike command. As time went on, helicopters whirred overhead and K-9 units were seen by neighbors.

63 Cleveland Police Officers Suspended After An Unarmed Couple Was Shot At 137 Times

63 Cleveland Police Officers Suspended After An Unarmed Couple Was Shot At 137 Times

Cleveland officials are suspending 63 police officers for their roles in a November car chase that ended in the shooting deaths of an unarmed man and woman, The Plain Dealer reports.

<snip>

Officers' offenses include engaging in a chase without permission and providing false information on police reports, the Plain Dealer reports. The officers will be suspended temporarily, with no one officer being suspended for more than 10 days.

Police officials have not yet reviewed the 13 officers who were involved in the shooting itself, but that's coming in the next and final stage of the investigation, officials told The Plain Dealer. More than 100 officers had some involvement in the chase.

Malissa Williams, 30, and Timothy Russell, 43, were each shot about two dozen times in a police chase that turned deadly. They were shot at 137 times while in their car, which was parked in a middle school parking lot after the chase.
