Trump's disconnect with DC widens during viral pandemic
WASHINGTON (AP) District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowsers cellphone rang earlier this week from an unfamiliar number: It was the White House calling to say President Donald Trump wanted to talk.
The president congratulated Washingtons mayor on $876 million in federal coronavirus relief going to the Washington-area Metro system money that was welcome but not under the mayors jurisdiction, instead going to a regional transportation authority.
Bowser used the moment to remind Trump that the District a city of 700,000 people that includes more than 150,000 federal workers got $700 million less in coronavirus relief money than each of the 50 states because it was classified as a territory at Senate Republicans insistence in the first round of federal relief passed by Congress.
As a candidate, Trump spoke warmly of the nations capital and said he wanted whatever is best for its residents. But over the course of his more than three years in office a disconnect between the president and District of Columbia has emerged. The public differences have only become more stark during the pandemic.
It is very important that the District is made whole, and that the District gets what its owed, Bowser said this week after her talk with Trump.

Fauci Urges Trump to Remain on Golf Course Until Pandemic Is Over
WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)Sharply disagreeing with critics of Donald J. Trumps weekend visit to the Trump National Golf Club, Dr. Anthony Fauci has urged Trump to remain on the golf course until the pandemic is over.
The people who are giving you a hard time about your golf trip are just haters, Fauci told Trump on Sunday. Its in the best interest of everyone in the country that you keep golfing, Mr. President.
Please, he added.
Trump was reportedly surprised by the doctors words of encouragement, especially because the golf trip had limited the Presidents ability to communicate with Fauci, the Centers for Disease Control, and other scientists involved in the coronavirus response.
Its been tough without you, but we are doing the best we can, Fauci said. After all the hard work youve done, you deserve months and months and months of golfing.
Fauci also recommended that Trump throw away his phone, stop talking to the press, and not tell anyone about the great idea he had on the golf course about using lawn fertilizer to protect people from the coronavirus.

GOP Sen Who Voted To Give Trillions To The Wealthy Says "Not Enough" Money To Help Everyone Else
Republican Senator Who Voted To Give Trillions To The Wealthy And Wall Street Said Theres Not Enough Money To Help Everyone Else
Senate Republicans had no problem finding money for Wall Street and the wealthy, but Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) said that theres not enough money to help everyone else who is even more negatively impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
The pandemic has cratered the economy as the unemployment rate has hit over 14 percent and could skyrocket to over 20 percent in the coming months. Tens of millions of Americans are out of work and small businesses are struggling to survive along with the people they employ.
House Democrats have passed a package to rescue Americans financially with another round of stimulus that would include monthly payments for as long as the crisis lasts.
But Alexander, who voted for Trumps tax cuts for the wealthy and the trillions of dollars that have already been doled out to Wall Street in the first stimulus package, told Meet The Press that theres not enough money to help everyone else.
