Eleven pounds lost in my first week on Medifast

I am shocked and thrilled! I had to get on and off the scale four times because I didn't believe it.

Some of the stuff in the plan is vile -- the tomato soup is the worst -- so some of it's going to waste, which isn't good. But as I go on I'll find the stuff I like and it'll get easier.

I am very happy!!

Catnip Abuse PSAs

Law enforcement officials, cat counselors, and state legislators agree—catnip (called “Nip” on the streets) is tearing apart families and destroying lives. Please take a second to read these important catnip PSAs and share them with your cats or kittens. Nip: Not even once.

In sum, because I'm forty-nine years old and I'm still a tomboy.

I’d rather be outside than in. I like getting dirty. I like to sweat. And dresses are icky. Nothing’s changed since I was a very young girl. I’ve always been a tomboy and I will be a tomboy on my deathbed.

OK

When you try to break up with your psycho lover and she fucking freaks, tearing the window shades down and kicking out the screen to jump out of the window and go running off in the rain -- go after her.

Here's some worse advice: break up with your psycho lover.

Ragtime

It was the first show I saw, and I was so moved by it all that I cried the whole way through.

Especially moving are "The Night That Goldman Spoke at Union Square," "Till We Reach That Day," "What A Game" (for the baseball fan) and my favorite, "He Wanted To Say."

Don't miss it.

When is it time to trim a redbud?

We have a small redbud. We gave it up for dead a few years ago, but last year it came back to life. We neglected it, but I want to take care of it.

I know nothing about caring for trees. It has several branches that are low to the ground and more little branches continue up the scrawny little trunk. I sense that these need to be cut off, but I'm not sure. And if they need to be cut off, I don't know when to do it.

Can you offer some advice, please? Thanks.

My favorite picture of O'Malley and Rat Face

As kittens. They're three years old now. Rat Face isn't much bigger; O'Malley could portray Jabba the Hutt.

Daddy the Cat died on Saturday.

I don't feel bad about starting this post thusly: life will now be much easier.

Daddy was an asshole. He picked on our other cats. He picked fights in the neighborhood. (I couldn't begin to estimate the total of the vet bills over the last ten years.) He constantly begged for people food. Underfoot in the kitchen and frequently stepped on. Up on the counters to try to grab what we're cooking. Knocking the fork out of my hand. There's so much more.

Yet when he crawled up in my lap, all was instantly forgiven. He was sweet. He had a quiet purr. And a raspy voice. Someimes he meowed silently; it was comical.

I will miss you, Daddy. RIP

Hey, folks. I'm still alive.

In treatment for hepatitis C, I find myself weak, exhausted, ill. I have no desire to do anything, including surf. I'll probably be back to myself in February, after treatment is over.

Peggy sent me a note a few weeks ago expressing her concern, and I appreciated that. I thought I'd let my good DU friends know that I'm still kicking.

Please don't be hurt if I don't reply to you individually. I'll read your comments though.

Best to everyone.
