madmom's JournalSo, what happens if you are not
signed up for insurance by tonight? I am curious, I don't know, haven't been following because I have insurance through by husband's employer. I am wondering what happens to the person who can't get signed up by midnight tonight because of glitches or otherwise.
I'm terribly sad to announce... UPDATE!!!!
Our porch kitty is MIA
here is the back story.. http://www.democraticunderground.com/1018507234
He was becoming quite used to us, he knew when dinner time was and was waiting by the back door every morning for fresh water and food. One day I went out to clear the snow from around his house ( he very obviously didn't like getting his feet wet) He ran under the deck as he usually did when we went all the way out. Well we haven't seen him since. I am heart broken. It's been almost a week. I'm hoping he is just out doing what male kitty's do, or some other kind soul has taken him in.
The thing that upsets me the most is he really liked his home. When we had blustery or snowy days, he would stay there all day just sticking his head out occasionally. This is why I am so sad, I don't think he would have left it willingly.
Porch kitty just showed up, very hungry and scruffy looking, but alive and home! He was setting at the back door tonight, looking in the window when I got home
Thanks everyone for the kind and encouraging words!
UPDATE.... Do we have any postal employees here? I have a problem with my mail delivery and
need to know what I can do.
To make a long story short, my mail service was interrupted (through no fault of my own) We didn't receive any mail at all, for about 2 weeks. Went to the post office to find out what was going on. My son (who lived with us for about 2 months) and his wife (who didn't) was having all their mail sent to our house. They put in a change of address, now we are getting nothing. The postal clerk at the office said they don't know where our mail is. I ask her how I can go about getting it and she said "what do you want me to do?" I told her I want her to tell me how I can get my mail. There are 3 very important pieces I know I should have gotten but didn't and I want them. She hemmed and hawed then took my number to give to the postmaster, I got her name, she gave it reluctantly. The thing is, I believe it was delivered to my son and his wife, who is not speaking to us at the moment, so I can't ask them or if I did they wouldn't respond.
My question is what are my options. Where do I turn to get my mail? What can the post office do to retrieve it?
Thanks in advance for any info.
I have to step out for a bit, but will be back to answer any question later tonight.
UPDATE:
OK I just got a call from my lawyer about a piece of mail they sent me being returned stamped "undeliverable" I explained the problem to her and suggested she try to mail it again to the same address. Now I have a new question...
all this mail I didn't receive was apparently(hopefully) returned, how do I go about letting all these people know about the fuck up? I know there are a few that I can contact, but what about the ones I don't know about? There are some that are automatic, how do I inform a computer?
This is telling me that it was a post office screw up, because I was told the change of addresses were all done individually, as in one for each family member, which does NOT include my hubby, daughter or myself.
So idiot cousin just posted this on facebook, anyone know what's behind this?...
http://reagancoalition.com/articles/2013/obama-gun-restrictions-continue-with-bullet-lead-factory-shutdown.html.."The Obama administration is continuing its attack on the second amendment by imposing severe restrictions on bullet lead. The Environmental Protection Agency has forced the Doe Run Lead Smelter, located in Heculaneum, Mo., to permanently shut down its doors. The agency had been trying to get the smelter, which produces lead used in bullets, to close down its doors since 2008. The smelter had been operating since 1892, but the factory will shut down at the end of this month and make it more difficult for Americans to purchase bullets for guns."
My Thanksgiving visitor...
I previously posted about a kitty trying to adopt us and our attempts to get close to him..
http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1018&pid=507234
well guess who came to dinner? I was in the kitchen cooking and since it was kind of warm I left the back door open a crack to try to entice him, well it worked! He came in for about 15 minutes or so but when we decided it was cool enough inside that we had to close the door, he ran back out. He is currently at the window looking in longingly..lol
OH, he's filling out nicely don't you think?
Question about ACA...
My daughter is 29, works part time for slightly above minimum wage and is a part time student. She lives with us. Now when she signs up for Ohio's expanded medicaid, does she have to declare our income as well as hers since we all live in the same household?
Need some info..having a "discusion" with my teabagger cousin..
he is saying the confederate flag is not about racism bla bla bla..then asks "why did the u.s navy fly it on there ship in ww2". First I've heard of this, but I'm no history buff. Anyone have an answer for me??
Hi all,..looking for a meme...
awhile back someone posted a meme about cutting off all people because a few abuse privileges not sure if it was welfare or food stamps in particular. I would greatly appreciate if someone could give me the link..again.
My cousin always posts pro repug memes on face book and I just post pro progressive memes without saying a word. His latest is..
I know there was one very similar in essence saying..do you understand the similarities, but just can't find it.
Hope I'm making sense here..lol.
Oh Happy Day.....
I have met my second weight loss goal. The first was to get out of "plus size" clothes..check. The second was to lose 100 pounds..check! As of this mornings weigh in, I am down 100.5 pounds and 5 sizes, from a size 26 to a size 16. Now I have to figure my next goal.
New kittie that is adopting us... UPDATE
Our current house meatloaf was at the back door having a "hissy fit". When I looked out, this is who I saw. Can't get close enough to touch yet. We've put food and water out several times now. He/she is comfortable enough to turn it's back while eating but that's as far as it goes. It seems to be living under our deck as of now.
UPDATE:
Porch Kitty (our unofficial name for him) is still around. He shows up every morning to be fed. He still won't get within reach, but doesn't run off entirely so that's better. He talks to us as we talk to him while we feed and water everyday, (he is usually setting just outside the door waiting for breakfast now) He has finally started using the box/bed we made for him. It's a rather blustery day today and I was very glad/relieved to see him inside. I've been calling it "him" because we've decided since we have seen no obvious signs of pregnancy, it must be a he.
