19 years, 20,000 posts.
If, anyone told me when I made my 1st post on 11/2/2003, I would still be posting and reading Democratic Underground 19 years later, I would have chuckled and said, "I don't think so".
But here I am reading DU; the 1st thing I do each morning with my cup of coffee.
I'm not as prolific, profound or inciteful as many DU'ers; you've kept me informed and educated on so many topics. We've also shared the sad times as well.
Thank you for your support, wisdom, chuckles and even a bit of criticism when needed.
Would have been fun if I hit 20,000 posts at 20 years, but I'll celebrate 19 years with 20,000 posts and will celebrate 20 years next November.
Thank you all, especially EarlG, Elad and Skinner, who made this experience possible.

Wordle tips: How to master the game, according to a linguistics expert
Its the game that social media cant get enough of, but we cant help but wonder: should you really start Wordle with the same word every day?

What are the best starting words for Wordle?
Some users swear by starting each game with the same word. Usually vowel-heavy, some popular starting words include ADIEU, STEAK, TREAD, TABLE and AUDIO.
But is this really the best tactic? Murphy, a Wordle fan who plays the game daily in three different languages, says she varies the words she starts with but they are always consonant-heavy.
Consonants are more informative than vowels there are more of them to knock out of contention, she explains. Things like CLAMP or DRINK, which have either an L or an R and either an M or an N.
Whereas if you guess something vowel-heavy like ALIEN at the start, you might learn that the word has an A and an E, but a lot of words have those two vowels you havent ruled as many words out.
Consonants are more informative than vowels
I like using L, R, N, and M (linguists call them sonorant consonants) early because they combine easily with other consonants. Once I know that a word with a P doesnt have an L, for instance, Ive ruled out a lot of the possible P words.
