I had seen friends of my mother who actually blossomed when they were widowed.
They traveled, launched careers, and generally kicked up their heels.
So I was somewhat surprised at how complete was my loss.
After seven years, I'm doing okay. I owe a lot to my pack of sweet and loving Golden Retrievers. I never come home to an empty house. 
I was until my husband died.
He was an exceptional and wonderful man, and I was very lucky to share his life for 27 years.
I had hoped it would be so much longer.
There's no summary possible of what he said.
He turned on his mouth and just ricocheted all over the place.
Crazy talk.
