I agree with you

Also to add that big business, which is much progressive when it comes to LGBTQ rights, seem to be resistant to such measures as well and have had a positive effect in preventing/fighting against such laws. Not for altruistic reasons necessarily but the money they bring into (and can easily remove from) states and local communities can "speak" rather loudly and carry a big stick when it comes to supporting the LGBTQ community against these anti-LGBTQ laws.

Don't hold your breath waiting for one

There is NOTHING "principled" about the Republican's stance on this. If this was 2008 and Harry Reid pulled a stunt like this to prevent George W. Bush from nominating a replacement for, say, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, we all know that Republicans, Fox News, et. al would be screeching and howling about it and demanding a hearing and vote for a nominee. They WERE, as you remember, up in arms and threatening to "go nuclear" about Democrats filibustering some of George W. Bush's judicial nominations back in 2005 and calling for "up-or-down votes" on them (which they promptly reversed themselves on the microsecond Barack Obama became POTUS). The bottom line for them is that nobody but them gets to replace Scalia (though they won't be able to hold out for 4 years if they don't win in November).

For me

it's knowing that somebody like Trump is closer to being elected POTUS than anybody like him *should* be, most likely because he's somewhat of a celebrity. I don't think that it's highly likely that he will win in the GE (if he doesn't blow it completely for the Republicans) but the fact that somebody like him has gotten this far in the primary process is sort of scary and shows how much the Republican base has devolved but I guess that after Sarah Palin and the Tea Party, somebody like Trump is the natural regression. I guess that I'm glad to some degree that they aren't nominating somebody whom could possibly come across as more "moderate" and acceptable in a GE like Bush or Kasich but still.

The people decided in 2012

that they wanted Barack Obama to fill SCOTUS vacancies for the next 4 years. Not for the next 1, 2, or 3 years but FOUR YEARS! Neither the Constitution nor any law enacted since limits a President's appointments only to non-election years. Also, just because Republicans like to sometimes throw it out there, the 2014 midterms did NOT alter/change anything about President Obama's judicial appointment powers either. Republicans are trying to invent limitations/precedents that simply DO NOT EXIST just to prevent Scalia's replacement on SCOTUS from being one they didn't get to choose (and may not even be able to choose for the next four years either)!

Trump is a blowhard and "Sarah Palin x 1000". Who exactly hasn't he honked off yet? Once the general election starts in earnest, most people IMHO will rightfully freak out about Trump and gladly vote for Hillary - or they will stay home.

The TRAP laws are even crazier

They want to (unnecessarily) turn clinics performing abortions (or even in some cases, just administering abortion drugs) into full-service hospitals and if they can't afford to do that (and many can't), they just get shut down. I will be floored if SCOTUS allows laws like those in Texas to stand.

and if you refuse to vote for Hillary in the GE (if she wins the primary) and Trump (or any of the Republicans that are running- pick your poison), then I hope that you will be able to live with yourselves and everything that comes along with a harsh right-wing Presidency for (at least) the next 4 years.

I think that some are just trying to minimize her ST victories

because they are Sanders supporters and realize that it is more likely than not that Sanders will, in fact, NOT wind up being the Democratic nominee for POTUS this year. Victories are victories IMHO. Also, to say that, without a doubt, that she can't win ANY southern states is premature at best IMHO. Hillary also could potentially put a southern state or two in play that were trending purple(-ish) when Obama ran in 2008 (i.e. Georgia). If Trump is the Republican nominee, all bets are pretty much off then too.
