So, in addition to worrying about everything else that might happen if Mitt becomes POTUS

we will have to worry about whether or not he will be maintain his sanity in what is perhaps the most stressful job on the planet?!

Did Ann just disqualify her husband for the Presidency????

Grover Norquist and the Tea Party want an "autopen" for POTUS

they know it's not going to be President Obama so- for them- it will have to be Mitt Romney. Simple as that. Of course, that "autopen" will only work when Republicans control the WH and Congress. Right now, them winning the Senate is in doubt not to mention the mere possibility of Romney being elected POTUS.

Yeah

the Blue Dogs in the previous Congress just loved him, didn't they? I mean, they loved him so much that they formed their own coalition in the Senate and House to make it clear as crystal that they weren't going to be "lap Blue Dogs" for him. Even Harry Reid felt compelled to remind everybody that he doesn't work for President Obama.

I don't think it's too late to undo the damage

but it was a huge setback IMHO from cleaning up the Bushco years and continuing to fix the economy. The only consolation is that they didn't manage to reverse much (if any) of President Obama's major initiatives nor get any right-wing junk passed and signed into law. Did some unnecessary damage to our country's once sterling credit rating with their debt ceiling antics.

It seems like everybody is messing around with expectations for these debates

I think that R.Money will try to smack President Obama around using all of his *best* lines from the campaign so far (expect "apology tour" to show up somewhere for instance) but President Obama will try to stay on message and answer the questions with clear, concise, and FACTUAL answers to the questions.

VOTER FRAUD/ACORN

After all, Mitt ran as a "severe conservative", right?

That's would I would like to know as well

Nothing short of a regime instigated and/or abetted by the US would completely eliminate the threat of Iran developing nuclear weapons and a bombing campaign by US and/or Israel would likely just make them mad, increase the Mullahs' hold on power, stoke more chaos and unrest in the ME, and STRENGTHEN their resolve to develop nuclear weapons in the future. In short, lots of likely downsides and very few potential benefits. Using peaceful means to convince them to abandon the project would be best course of action but Romney/Republicans seem like they're itching to pull the trigger for a military strike- or at least giving Israel the green light to start one and promising to back them up however they want us to.

That is essentially my "fallback" as well

if the state polls aren't realistically close by November, particularly if we're talking about likely voters, then I don't know how they'd be able to pull off such a heist. 2000 and 2004 were VERY close elections and ultimately came down to single states (BTW I'm not discounting theft/suppression/disenfranchisement in those races). President Obama appears to be doing well enough in several states (like in 2008) that such a last minute massive shift in Romney's favor in several states would just be too jarring for most people to accept IMHO.

NPR/Diane Rehm Show running today with RW foreign policy memes about President Obama.

They opened the show stating that while President Obama's numbers on the economy have gone up, his foreign policy numbers have supposedly gone down (I must have missed the polling on this). The host, Tom Jelton(sp?) talked about all of the foreign policy crises during the past 18 months, played a puke-worthy clip of Romney speaking at a rally, and then played a clip of President Obama's speech yesterday at the UN.
He and the guests talked about how President Obama wasn't "close" to world leaders and were suggesting that President Obama is essentially trying to "run out the clock" on Iran and Syria for the rest of the election and that world leaders apparently are feeling like they're waiting on him to make decisions due to the election and wanting the election to be over soon (which, actually, I couldn't agree with more). That was all I caught of it (will probably go back and get the podcast tomorrow) but, as much as I don't want to spread junk like this around here, we should probably know what's coming down the pike and what the "punditocracy" is/will be discussing.
The whole discussion left me wondering, what exactly do they expect President Obama/United States to do in terms of dealing with things in the rest of the world, particularly the ME, and how much control do they expect him to be able to have over the decisions made in other countries, particularly those made by the people in other countries? I don't know whether the Muslim Brotherhood gaining power in Egypt is a good thing or a bad thing but that seems to me to be beside the point in terms of recognizing the rights of people in Egypt to decide to put them in power. Are people like Romney, et. al suggesting that we intervene to make sure that people in other countries "choose" only certain people to be in charge? As for what happened to Ambassador Stevens, do Romney, et. al think that we need to bomb/invade Libya in response?
I'm hearing mostly criticism of one sort or another about President Obama's foreign policy but no alternative proposals/ideas from Republicans or Romney in particular (no surprise there, of course), just vague and empty slogans about "American Exceptionalism".
