What's this so-called "price" that children pay for having gay parents ?

that Mr. (former) "left-of-Ted-Kennedy-on-gay-rights" speaks of? Recognizing that not everybody is exactly the same and that that is o.k.?

What the hell happened to the deal from last year

that was supposed to take us through to 2013 and allow President Obama to raise the debt ceiling without worrying about another vote? Congress could, of course, "disapprove" of it but the deal (I thought) was agreed to in order to prevent another round of "hostage taking". It was also supposed to result in automatic spending cuts. Hopefully, President Obama and the Dems remind everybody about this deal where Boehner said that he got 98% of what he wanted. I guess he is back to collect the remaining 2% he didn't get?

Foolish?

Foolish like a fox, says I! And President Obama can pop up and tell the nation that they worked out a deal in good faith last year that allows him to raise the debt ceiling through to 2013 (Congress was supposed to just be able to register "disapproval" if I remember correctly) and mandated specific spending cuts if the fiscal "Supercommittee" couldn't get the job done (which it didn't). Republicans, of course, are trying to squeeze out of that deal with the Ryan Budget v.2.0. Hopefully, voters can see who's clearly behind this fiscal insanity and vote accordingly.

Good news

I always thought it was a joke. Their organization exemplified the phony "both sides are rotten, extreme, bad" false equivalency that has plagued our country and its "free" press for much too long IMHO. Plus, as has been mentioned, we already have a centrist/left of center person ALREADY at the helm, a person who based his campaign for President, as well as much of his first term devoted to the ideal of bipartisanship and compromise with the other major party only to see that other party totally unwilling to work with him and dogmatic in their attempts to undermine his Presidency and prevent him and his party from governing and/or fixing any of the major problems in our country.

I thought that it was rather risky myself

however I think that him endorsing it was ultimately the right thing to do and it has the potential to really start a meaningful dialogue in this country about the issue. Political dynamics have changed significantly since the last time it was used in a campaign (2004) and, while much work has yet to be done in the states, particularly in educating people about what is and what isn't real about marriage equality- which the right-wing has been successful in obscuring every time it gets put on the ballot or put to a vote-people are increasingly more progressive in their thinking about marriage equality and that is something that the right-wing cannot fight or hold back forever. The fact that President Obama's endorsement of marriage equality has even inspired some Democrats in Congress to begin seriously discussing initiatives like ENDA and even agreeing to hold hearings on it seems like it- as well as the repeal of DADT- has helped created an opening to advance LGBT equality that might not otherwise have existed.

+1

We haven't even had the conventions or debates yet and anybody swayed by President Obama's announcement of support of marriage equality probably was pretty soft in their support of him anyway if they're going to let a single issue like that swing them over to Romney.

I don't know for sure but I would guess the latter rather than former

I believe that there was some minor detail about the story that WAPO didn't quite right or one of the witnesses hadn't witnessed the incident or something like that and, unlike Fox News, issued a correction/update but I don't believe that it undermined and/or unraveled the story in any significant way.

"What do Repubs consider off-limits when attacking Obama?"

If the last 3-4 years have taught us anything, NOTHING! They've attacked him relentlessly for just about anything and everything, including things that every modern POTUS has done, they've attacked his wife.

I don't believe that we need to respond in kind. There is plenty of substantive material to attack Romney on without going overboard with personal attacks (i.e. Mormonism) IMHO.

Religion is so "free" in this country

we have groups of people whom apparently feel "free" to try to make other people less free.

It's particularly disgusting that anti-LGBT bigots

have gone so far to protest LGBT equality that they are now, in fact, condoning bullying against LGBT youth. Sickos!
