Mad_Machine76's JournalRepublicans have no "answer" to COVID
other than just trying to go on with "life as normal". Unfortunately that stubborn virus just keeps getting in the way of their stubborn denial. Their secondary response is to try to claim that Democrats are just using COVID to distract from......Afghanistan, which stopped being a major news item weeks ago. And still doesn't change anything happening with COVID anyway.
"Big Tech"
has become one of the new right-wing boogeymen. All of them are constantly complaining about it. As though Republicans don't get corporate contributions from "Big everything else"
*sigh*
Ya know this is why we struggle so much: when people on OUR side don't have our backs and attempt to discourage things like this. As long as it was a peaceful protest and people didn't physically confront anybody or damage property, it's protected speech/activity. End of line. Stigmatizing free speech like this is not something a proper Democrat should be doing. Hopefully, they retract their criticism.
I'm not sure exactly what he's talking about here
He's rarely challenged, let alone "cornered" on his Fox News show. Does he do another version elsewhere? Also, his stint on Crossfire has long since ended.
I've been listening to a podcast which is basically all about debunking various statements on his show (Tuckered Out Podcast- highly recommended) and he usually only brings on guests that are there because he wants somebody to add some patina of "credibility" to his talking points, although, sometimes, embarrassingly, they don't quite always stick to the line that he's expecting them to or they add context that undermines what he is trying to prove, although he usually just breezes past any such contradictions and moves on. His main schtick really seems to be wildly exaggerating things that aren't extraordinary and/or leaving out crucial context that drastically changes the perception of whatever it is he's talking about.
What could possibly
keep a child from wearing a mask, medically? I would imagine that the number of children for whom would be legitimately exempt would have to be infinitesimally small.
It seems crazy
that Republicans have the most power but do the least real work for the country. They seem to have endless financial resources, time, and energy to stir the pot for their base 24-7-365 on Fox News and countless AM Radio outlets all over the country, meanwhile working class people are too busy slaving away for the corporate best desperate to survive and are only partially aware of what's going on at any given amount of time and don't always get to the polls like the Republican base. I wish we could figure out a way to address this.
Sure, Jan
Whatever.
We were robbed during the Trump years. They were able to stall out Garland for the last year of Obama's Presidency using a made up "rule" that we shouldn't fill a seat during an Election year, then Trump won and got to fill Scalia's vacancy with Gorsuch right off the bat, somebody somehow engineered a Kennedy resignation in the middle of Trump's term, and we got Kavanaugh on the Court (which has a whole host of issues in and of itself), and the final insult was RGB dying right before Election 2020 and Republicans rushing to fill her seat with Barrett in complete reversal of their earlier "rule" about filling a seat during an Election year-right before Trump lost the election no less.
And I'm mad all over again.
I don't get this
A contagious virus and all he can think about his his "rights" to not to help prevent the spread thereof by either getting tested regularly or getting a vaccine that has been given to millions of people now without any ill effects and has been successful in preventing transmission and/or minimizing severe illness?
We should never
just assume that we're doomed because we don't do one thing JMHO. The problems with our election system are numerous and some of the laws passed since 2020 are undoubtedly going to make things worse, but right-wing gerrymandering and voter suppression isn't just starting in 2022 and 2024 and probably won't end then either. As for them overturning elections, I would just like to see them try it (and I don't think anything that is currently being proposed would even address that issue?). I dare an election official to simply overturn an election result and see how quickly they have to backtrack and resign if not face criminal investigation (no matter what their "laws" say)
