Net neutrality. Repealing corporate personhood for good. Strengthening Social Security.

Strengthening consumer protection laws. Getting rid of lobbyists. Getting the money out of politics. A real voting rights act.

I could go on and on, and haven't even touched on some of the most important things, really. (Fracking, for example). These should be the Democratic party platform moving forward. I am praying for a Democratic renaissance in 2014 into 2016. If it doesn't happen, I can guarantee the party will split. I, for one, am holding onto hope with my fingernails. I need some hope and change. Yes, President Obama did some great things…he also did some things that make me shake my head. This isn't about him. This is about our future. Individually and collectively.

These things I know:
It can't be Hillary, no matter how hard the media and the Clinton machine want it to be. 'Nuff said on that.
I am lukewarm on Brian Schwitzer…liked him a lot several years ago, but I have some questions, and he needs more vetting.
I would go 100% with Bernie Sanders if he became a Democrat, above all others.
And of course, Elizabeth Warren, if she were ready and able to win.

I am interested if anyone has other ideas I'm missing. Off to take a shower, back in a few.

Important voter registration update for Hoosiers

Important voter registration update for Hoosiers

Beginning yesterday, registering to vote in Indiana has been made more inconvenient. This is due to the Indiana legislature passing a law that makes several more requirements of Hoosiers registering others to vote.

Along with some stiff penalties for not returning the completed application within 10 days, the person submitting the voter registration form must provide the person being registered with their personal home address. There might very well be some circumstances where we may not want to give out our home address to just anyone.

We are now encouraging our members and any other activists who volunteer to register voters to use the federal voter registration form instead of the new Indiana voter registration form.

The federal form is very similar to the previous voter registration form. We still encourage you to return completed voter registration forms to the county clerk’s office or state election division with 10 days of receiving the completed form from the person registering to vote. The federal form can be accepted by any county voter registration office in the state.

Indiana has gummed up voter registration just in time for 2014.
