Just before the trial of Mr Aubrey's killers began, USA Today reported on the jury...

It consisted of 9 women and 3 men: the sole black juror was a man. (The alternates were 2 women and 1 man.) Their individual responses to the standard questions are summarized in the article.

https://www.usatoday.com/in-depth/news/nation/2021/11/07/ahmaud-arbery-trial-jury-what-we-know/6269841001/

The 12-person jury consists of at least two retired law enforcement officers, a former nurse and a clinician. Another has a background in psychology.

Several said they previously served on a jury. Four indicated they own firearms. Four said they believe police do not treat white and Black people equally. Four said they have lived in Glynn County for less than five years. Nearly all said they'd seen the video of the killing.

These profiles were built around the limited information made available to media throughout the jury selection process. The court declined to release details about race or age. Here's what we know about the jurors, with some identifying information retracted.

One described the video as 'obscene'. And, from a juror described as a retired IT professional:

Have you seen the cellphone video? The woman said she doesn’t have time to watch a lot of TV but thinks she has seen the cellphone video two or three times. "I just wonder why they didn’t call a cop instead of doing what they did," she said.

Does race factor into this case? "I would assume that."

USA Today wrote a piece on this back in 2016, before the election..

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/elections/2016/06/01/donald-trump-lawsuits-legal-battles/84995854/

They identified 3,500 cases, 1,900 where he was plaintiff, 1,450 where he was the defendant, and 150 which were legal matters rather than lawsuits, such bankruptcy filings.

The article has an exhibit where they break out the various actions by source/subject. (If you use your browser's find-in-page function, usually ctrl-F, search for: Trump lawsuits by the numbers )

1,700 of the cases related to the casinos, while 700 were personal injury suits aka slip-n-falls on his various properties. (There are more details in the article.) There's also some information on what happened to the cases, although that's not complete.

After one of his attorneys told them that his number of suits was lower than most comparable organizations, they checked on the legal activities of 5 other major real estate developers. He had more suits where he was either the plaintiff or defendant than the other 5 developers combined.

Malala Yousafzai 'marries partner' in small UK ceremony...

A lovely moment for a remarkable young woman.

https://www.thenationalnews.com/world/uk-news/2021/11/09/malala-yousafzai-marries-partner-in-small-uk-ceremony/

Malala Yousafzai, the campaigner for girls’ education and Nobel Peace Prize laureate who survived being shot at the age of 15 by the Pakistani Taliban in 2012, has been married.

Ms Yousafzai, who lives in Britain, said she and her new husband, who she identified only as Asser, were married in the city of Birmingham and celebrated at home with their families.

It's believed that her husband is Asser Malik, general manager of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s High Performance Centre, although this has not been confirmed.

There was a shooting outside of a sports bar (called Golf & Social) on the Philly waterfront..

..in Fishtown. An altercation spilled over from inside (based on what they've said so far) in which 7 people were shot. 3 are in critical condition, 4 are hospitalized but stable, and someone is in custody.

http://www.bradfordera.com/news/state/7-people-shot-outside-philadelphia-sports-bar/article_fff7f7b1-19a1-5562-bcca-2ecfa705f65b.html

The only shooting in Boston on the news concerns an alleged armed robber who robbed a convenience store and then, stole a police car. He was shot by the police following a standoff. (No one was shot in the store, AFAICT.)

https://www.wpri.com/new-england/massachusetts/armed-robbery-suspect-in-stolen-cruiser-leads-police-on-chase-through-mass-communities/

Virginia Beach had more than one incident going on in the vicinity of the city's Oceanfront, apparently around the same time. At around 11:20 p.m. 8 people were shot in one location. So far, that resulted in two deaths, but some others are hospitalized in critical condition. They've brought people in for questioning, but haven't reported a motive yet.

Then there was more gunfire and an officer involved shooting, but that was at another location, and is unrelated to the first incident. In yet another unrelated incident, someone was shot to death. And finally, a LEO was hit by a car, but wasn't badly hurt.

These sound like pissed-off-assholes-with-guns incidents.

Girl, 4, found abandoned on Bronx street just after midnight on Saturday..

The investigators spotted her on a security video, walking with a person several minutes before the girl was found by herself. It shows the person getting further and further away from the girl, although they turned and looked at her a few times. The video is in the second tweet.

It's obviously very unusual for a child this young to have gone missing without the family calling the police.

https://news.yahoo.com/girl-4-found-abandoned-bronx-144100634.html

A 4-year-old girl was found abandoned on the corner of a Bronx street and now cops are trying to figure out who her family is, authorities said Sunday.

The girl, who told investigators here name is Sidaya, was spotted standing by herself near Prospect Ave. and East 156 St. in the South Bronx just after midnight Saturday, police said. It was 40 degrees out and little Sidaya was wearing a sweater but no jacket.

After a concerned passerby called police, cops picked up the tot and took her to a Lincoln Hospital for evaluation

She was released from the hospital into Administration for Child Services custody in healthy condition, police said.

The guy they arrested with the napalm-Molotov cocktails in his pickup has been *denied* bail..

The judge noted what they found in his truck. It's bit more than originally reported.

Defendant is charged in a 17-count indictment with firearm and ammunition offenses. On January 6, 2021, a vehicle registered to Defendant was found in close proximity to the U.S. Capitol. U.S. Capitol Police (“USCP”) officers found a small armory inside the Defendant's truck:

(1) a loaded handgun;
(2) a loaded rifle;
(3) a loaded shotgun;
(4) several large capacity ammunition-feeding devices loaded with more than ten rounds of rifle ammunition;
(5) hundreds of rounds of ammunition;
(6) a crossbow with bolts;
(7) several machetes;
(8) camouflage smoke devices;
(9) a stun gun;
(10) 11 mason jars containing a flammable liquid, with a hole punched in the top of each jar; and
(11) lighters and rags. Defendant also had two loaded firearms on his person.

According to the government's proffer, the mixture in the mason jars creates an explosive mixture that has the effect of napalm. In addition, surveillance images show Defendant in attendance at the events at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, and USCP agents found handwritten notes in Defendant's car, including information about elected representatives, a judge, and a quote attributed to Abraham Lincoln referencing overthrowing the government.

All of this raises significant concerns about Defendant's intentions with respect to weaponry and destructive devices found in the Defendant's truck. This factor weighs heavily in favor of pretrial detention.
[...]
The timing of Defendant's travel to D.C., and the handwritten notes found in his vehicle suggest that he came here with the intent to use the cache of firepower found in his vehicle to commit violence against government officials or to assist others in doing so. Given the substantial number of firearms and homemade incendiary devices found in his possession --suggesting a ready access to both --the undersigned has no confidence that any condition or combination of conditions would reasonably assure ensure the safety of the community.

They also had appealed a different matter to the DC Court of Appeals for an en banc hearing..

... which is when the entire bench takes up the case. This appeal related to the execution method: they had lost on the last round. The judges agreed to hear the appeal by a vote of 5-4, because there have been recent decisions by their circuit court judges that conflicted with one another.

The filing dates for the various briefs and responses are currently between 1/19 and 1/29. At some point after that, a hearing will be scheduled.

The very short court order is linked in the tweet:

This woman's crime was so horrific that it's hard to imagine a sane person doing it, although I suppose that you could say that about a lot of crimes.

Oops. A Delaware Superior Court judge drop-kicked Lin Wood out of his courtroom today..

.. on paper, that is, via an order.

Carter Page has been suing Oath Inc, the parent company of Yahoo and Huff-Po, for several months now for defamation. Wood was appearing Pro Hac Vice - aka, on this occasion only - because he isn't licensed to practice in Delaware. This status, which is quite common, is at the sufferance of the judge on a case.

The judge became aware of Wood's shenanigans in the Kraken cases et al last month, and ordered Wood to explain why his permission to be on the case should stay in place, given his antics. Wood and his co-counsel failed to move him:

[...]
It would dishonor [the ethical lawyers who practice before him] were I to allow this pro hac vice order to stand. The conduct of Mr Wood...exhibited a toxic stew of mendacity, prevarication and surprising incompetence. What has been shown in Court decisions of our sister States satisfies me that it would be inappropriate and inadvisable to continue Mr Wood's permission to practice before this Court.
[...]
One final matter...I have seen reports of "tweets" attributable to Mr Wood. At least one tweet called for the arrest and execution of our Vice President. Another alleged claims against the Chief Justice of the SCOTUS which are too disgusting and outrageous to repeat. Following on top of these are the events of 1/6/21 in our Nation's Capitol. No doubt these tweets, and many other things, incited these riots.

He goes on to say that the tweets did not factor into his decision. But he apparently felt the need to put that on the record.

The ruling is short (8 pages), although his comments on Wood begin on page 6:
