My only grip with him

Was his criticism vegetarians, like Woody Harrelson whom his dissed badly - I saw that episode. Oh, and he took on British chefs...I've eaten some of the best meals of my life at "high tables" in Cambridge. Otherwise, I loved Bourdain. I loved him for embracing foreign cultures and food and not being one of those Ugly Americans.

When suicide happens, it's inevitable that people will be guessing and wanting to know WHY. With the years of smoking and drinking, my first guess was that he had a diagnosis of cancer. But I also know he's had emotional problems, like dealing with a heroin addiction many years ago. We may never know his motivation for ending his life. It makes me sad. The world has lost a good guy.

My father was there on D-Day.

Lived thru it obviously. Later found and commandeered a deserted German truck with two dead Germans - Allies had already killed them.

Like many of the soldiers, he never spoke of the actual combat or his dead fellow Americans. Too painful, my guess. There was some probability that he could have had PTSD.

I remember my mother openly mocking soldiers with "shell shocked" as it was then called. She never comprehended what a battle this was and had no sympathy until many decades later when she visited the D-Day Memorial in Bedford, Virginia. The Memorial did a superb job with the small mockup of the historical scene. Their sound effects and the water pool rippling from "the tracer bullets" gave me chills. I couldn't help but cry viewing it.






Those men would not believe what has happened to this country today.

My hubs is a physicist specializing in ultrasound, has medical patents in the field and says our gov't is not consulting the proper specialists to evaluate this serious situation.

This article is very good; our gov't should be consulting specialists like these, not physicians, even very esteemed ones.

Brats. You have my sincere sympathy.

I had an ADD child with clinically diagnosed oppositional disorder. It was hell, especially with a passive father. Thank the stars, he grew out of it (my son, not the hubs ).

Not exactly...

This author had to add "during SPORTING events"!! "Sporting"? WTF? Well, okay. Weird tho.

There are folks, like myself (and others such as those in Harvard studies) who've experienced this "spiritual oneness" during LSD use. And I'm an atheist. It was the most awesome experience of my life. This was almost forty yrs ago and was impossible for me to explain and articulate to anyone who'd never experienced it. The few with whom I tried thought I was just delusional.

Infrasound does NOT drops rapidly over distance!!

This is bullshit. Any novice knows that elephants and whales communicate long distances via infrasound. Earthquakes create infrasound that can be detected a continent away.
Why is our gov't only consulting physicians when the real expertise in sound are physicists?! They are trying to discredit these damaged people??
It's just incredible how erroneous this report is.
