I've been watching VH1 "Behind the Music" videos on YouTube

I love this series because they are all from my era. My quick and dirty impressions so far:

Journey: Steve Perry said he never really felt like part of the band. WTF. Also, Jonathan Cain was secure enough in himself to cry on camera about the little boy who died after they visited him in the hospital. I thought that was awesome of him.

Megadeth: Dave Mustaine sure had an issue with Metallica for a long time.

Metallica: I knew nothing about them. They put on a great show.

Melissa Etheridge: I had no idea she had two kids. She's very strong and very brave.

Woodstock: The financier guys were sure brave.

Anthrax: These guys have been through hell and back.

Judas Priest: I knew nothing about them. I was not aware how famous they were (ok ok, yes I'm clueless about heavy metal).

Doobie Brothers: Wow talk about lineup changes.

Red Hot Chili Peppers: Anthony Kiedis comes across as very intelligent and articulate. It's very touching how close the band members are to each other.

Styx: I was not overly sympathetic to Dennis DeYoung.

Darryl Hall and John Oates: I had not seen their MTV videos, which were described as not being very good. The VH1 guy's words, not mine. To me they were ok for 80's videos.

As I said, quick and dirty. Most enjoyable way to catch up on an artist's work quickly.

Barking dogs targeted with poisoned meatballs

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/06/02/dogs-targeted-poisoned-meatballs/9859767/

video at link

LONGMONT, Colo. — A family that once received a letter with threats to kill their dogs if they didn't "shut up," discovered three meatballs laced with poison in their front yard.

Tammy Deitz with Longmont Animal Control says meatballs laced with 'd-Con', a common rodent poison, were found at a home Saturday.

Deitz said the meatballs were found tossed in the front yard over a short two-foot fence adjacent to a sidewalk.

The owners of the home have two wirehaired Dachshunds. The family reported one of their dogs brought a plastic bag containing several of the blue-green pellets into the house within the past two weeks.

Update on Otter browser, slow improvement

http://www.otter-browser.org/

Newest binary downloads here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/otter-browser/files/otter-browser-weekly21/

It's still alpha but the problem I reported seems cured now. So many people on the Opera Desktop blog page are complaining about the new Opera, that this developer may be able to steal some of their thunder.

One small bug I noticed on DU is, you can't tick the box for " Remain logged in at this computer? ". I'll report it to their bug site.

eta: Bug reported. Wow, feedback already. Apparently the bug is in QtWebKit itself.

Singer-Songwriter Melissa Etheridge Marries

http://www.boston.com/entertainment/celebrity/2014/06/01/singer-songwriter-melissa-etheridge-marries/qCJAoJfiUsBbiTXw6lNTLP/story.html

NEW YORK (AP) — Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter and gay rights activist Melissa Etheridge has gotten married.

People magazine says the 53-year-old Etheridge married partner Linda Wallem at the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California, on Saturday.

Etheridge and the 53-year-old Wallem, a co-creator of the television series ‘‘Nurse Jackie,’’ began dating in 2010. They announced their engagement following the Supreme Court’s decision on gay rights.

Besides the singer’s four children, the magazine says several celebrities attended the ceremony, including Chelsea Handler, Rosie O'Donnell, Whitney Cummings, Peter Facinelli and recording artist Sia.

Black bear spotted lounging in hammock [PHOTO]

Even black bears need to rest.

According to WESH.com, a black bear was spotted lounging in a Daytona Beach, Florida, hammock on Thursday.

Thankfully, photographer Rafael Torres spotted the bear climbing into the hammock and was able to obtain photographic evidence of the unusual sight.

“I knew that if I wanted to have that picture, I just had to take some risks, you know. No risks no picture,” Torres told FOX 35 News.

roof leak question

My homeowner's association/condo is doing the 30 year roof replacement schedule for my building. Everything has been wonderful so far, save for the BANG BANG BANG at times, but I'm so grateful they're doing it.

AFAICT, they are not finished with the roof yet. It looks to my untrained eye like they have done all the prep work and need to lay the Spanish-style tiles down. I'm on the second/top floor.

Yesterday we had one of our typical summer Florida monsoon rains. After a few minutes of hard rain, I heard DRIP DRIP DRIP loudly on the top of my bathroom area ceiling (popcorn blown ? not sure of the correct term). For whatever reason, the water had come into the building through a hole in the roof and was dripping on the top of my ceiling.

After a few minutes (thank god), the hard rain stopped and the dripping on my ceiling stopped. There is no leakage from my ceiling and there is no visible damage to my ceiling. I got on the horn right away and notified the HOA management company of the problem. I faithfully pay my HOA dues, so I expect the roof work to be done correctly. Since it was a Saturday yesterday, no one was in the office. Hopefully on Monday the problem will be attended to. And...it will probably pour again today.

Any advice ? I'm sorry I don't have more information. Thanks in advance !

Steve
