Bernie Sanders Wins Minnesotas Democratic Caucus
March 1, 2016 10:26 PM
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO/AP) CBS News has projecting a win for Bernie Sanders in Minnesotas Democratic Caucuses.
The Vermont Democrat beat Hillary Clinton to take the largest share of the states available delegates. Sanders had put a sharp focus on Minnesotas contest, making several stops in the days before the Tuesdays vote.
The DFL party chair said only a handful of precincts ran out of ballots and that, despite the very heavy turnout, voting was orderly.
The long lines curled into the 14 separate caucuses at St. Pauls Central High School. Gov. Mark Dayton was among those who braved the lines, filling out his ballot for Clinton, on whose behalf he campaigned.
Anyone who was in line as of 8 p.m. was allowed to vote, so DFL officials say it could be awhile before all the ballots are counted.

Julian Assange: Swedish lawyers ask court to overturn arrest warrant against Wikileaks founder
Lawyers have made a formal request to a Swedish court to overturn Julian Assange's arrest warrant in a rape case.
The journalist has spent more than three years hiding in the Ecuadorian embassy in London after his appeal against extradition failed in the UK courts.
Thomas Olsson, one of Assange's lawyers, said in a statement: "We consider that there have arisen a number of new circumstances which mean there is reason to review the earlier decision".

46% In and Hillary is leading by about 150.
Legitimate Question: Why in hell is she doing so bad?
Former First Lady.
Former Senator.
Former Secretary of State.
Another virtual tie.

ON EDIT: Since people were confused by the Guardian's (and the WaPo's) terminology: "Vote totals for the Nevada Democratic Party are county convention delegates won by each candidate."
Upon Harper Lee's Passing, Berkeley Breathed Shares Her Fan Letter to Him
https://www.facebook.com/berkeleybreathed/photos/a.114529165244512.10815.108793262484769/1136867129677372Bloomers: Many, but not all of you, know that in the way that creative life can often surprise, Harper Lee was one of you. One of us. You might be as surprised as I am that she played a large role in my recent return to the streets of Bloom County-- streets inspired by those of Maycomb. When I retired Opus from the Sunday comics some years ago, Harper let me know her displeasure, with all the southern, gracious elegance we knew her for. See the letter below. I've waited until her passing to show it. We came to exchange many similar notes... including one in which she grudgingly forgives me for my retirement (irony alert). Imagine my 14 year-old self -- freshly savoring the first reading of Mockingbird and sending Miss Lee a fan letter in 1970 -- being told about another fan letter returning my way almost 40 years distant. Life is wonderful and strange and wistful and happy at the same time. And I'm happy to share this with all of you today.
