Police: Austin Shooter Apparently Tied to Phineas Priesthood
http://www.splcenter.org/blog/2014/12/02/police-austin-shooter-apparently-tied-to-phineas-priesthood/#more-18297From the article:
A man who went on a shooting spree last week in Austin, Tex., firing at government buildings and a police headquarters, was a homegrown American extremist with hate in his heart, the citys police chief said.
Larry Steve McQuilliams, 49, also appeared to have been a devotee of a doctrine known as the Phineas Priesthood, an ideology that believes violence to be divinely justified if used against race-mixers, gay people, abortion proponents and others.

Scott Lively, the Massachusetts minister and anti-gay activist who helped inspire the Ugandan law which criminalized gay sex, failed in his efforts to put a halt to marriage equality in Finland. The Finnish parliament voted 105-92 to approve marriage rights for LGBT individuals. Oops. Now Lively will have to go somewhere else to fail.

Loopy right-wing broadcaster Kevin Swanson is all scared of the 'Hunger Games' books and films. Why? He claims it's a set-up for a holocaust of home-schooled people. Or something.

Kevin Swanson: 'Hunger Games' movies secretly preparing us for Holocaust of Christians
http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/kevin-swanson-hunger-games-warming-us-murder-and-persecutionLoopy right-wing broadcaster Kevin Swanson is all scared of the 'Hunger Games' books and films. Why? He claims it's a set-up for a holocaust of home-schooled people. Or something.
From the article:
This is warming us up to murder, he said, warning that the films may train children to slaughter American Christians just as Jews were massacred in Nazi Germany. This is warming us up to the ethical decisions that tens of millions, if not hundreds of millions of American kids are going to do when it comes time for the Nazis to kill the Jews or when the Americans need to kill the Jews or when Americans need to kill Christians.

Right-wing extremist preacher Gordon Klingenschmitt likes to claim that the military cut him as a chaplain because he said prayers in the name of Jesus. Oops: it seems that alleged incident never happened.

Gordon Klingenschmitt's claim of persecution based on 'incident' that never happened
http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/gordon-klingenschmitts-entire-activist-career-based-mythRight-wing extremist preacher Gordon Klingenschmitt likes to claim that the military cut him as a chaplain because he said prayers in the name of Jesus. Oops: it seems that alleged incident never happened.
From the article:
Klingenschmitt, who goes by Dr. Chaps, has based his political activism on his own personal story of persecution, claiming that the military censored and fired him because he said the name of Jesus in his prayers as a chaplain. He filed a lawsuit to protect his First Amendment rights and has used his story to win persecution points from the Religious Right and raise lots of money for his group, the Pray In Jesus Name Project.
But as Rob Boston of Americans United for Separation of Church and State reports, Klingenschmitt lost his lawsuit last week because the incident never happened.
