CaliforniaPeggy
CaliforniaPeggy's JournalI'd like to remind everyone that if we don't get folks willing to host the contests:
Any month that happens in, there won't be a contest.
Also, I have written up a how-to do it for anyone who wants to sign up. Heck, I even look at it every time I run one! It's designed to streamline the steps which makes it much easier to accomplish.
Just FYI . . .
Right now we have 4 months covered!
How about it? You can PM me or ask whatever you like in this thread or in the thread where we sign up.

**Thread for VOLUNTEERS to HOST Photo Contests in 2024!**
We've had three very successful years having volunteers running the monthly contests.
Now it's time to think about next year, 2024!
If you've never hosted a contest, here is a thread that will describe that: https://www.democraticunderground.com/103649550
Here are the months. If you would like to host, please respond and identify which month you would like to host. The SEASONAL Contests run in March, June, September, and December. All other months are theme oriented contests where the winner will be awarded the prize of choosing the theme for the contest in the next theme oriented month. As in the past, the winner--because of selecting the theme--does not get to participate in the next contest, but hosts are allowed to participate (unless by chance the person who is scheduled to host also happens to win the previous month and selects the theme!) As an example, the winner of this November's Contest (2022) will choose the theme for the January 2023 contest because the contest for December 2022 will be a Seasonal Contest (AUTUMN)
It would be really wonderful if some of the winners from this past year would VOLUNTEER to HOST!
As people respond with the months they would like to host, I will put the names together with the months so that we can refer back to this thread to see who has volunteered for hosting any particular month in 2023. Just indicate in a response to this thread which month you'd like to VOLUNTEER to host, and I will match your name to the month. I have already picked out the two that I will run this coming year.

I hit Costco this morning and came home with lots of stuff!
In our 2-story house with storage upstairs, and a dumb waiter to transport stuff between floors. . . How do you move it once you're upstairs?
This is how:
My laundry cart is perfect for this sort of transportation!

At that time, I always used the Auto setting! I had no idea what I was doing. How things have changed!
This is an experimental post with my 12--45mm lens.
I'm attempting to break the old patterns and create new ones. I'm not sure I've succeeded, but we'll see ...
More photos from my 12--45mm lens! Including a merchant . . .
I'm having such a good time with this super lens. Can you tell?
What a difference 24 hours make!
Last night the sky was covered with thick clouds with small hints of the moon now and then.
Tonight, crystal clear skies, and no breeze at all!
Those perfect conditions gave me this: The waning gibbous moon.
