Being a hawk.

There are other issues but I really respect Hillary. However, I am bothered by the fact that she has a record of supporting military action.

But, hey, I wish Bernie and Martin would come out stronger against killing innocent people in the war on terrorism. However, they are better here.

I'm a proud dove. We're nearly extinct, you know?

October 29, 2015

Hillary supporters, how can you justify this?

War.

I am so sickened by our killing of innocent lives in the name of the American people.

Bernie's view is one Americans can be proud of.

“We live in a difficult and dangerous world, and there are no easy or magical solutions. As President and Commander-in-Chief, I will defend this nation, its people, and America’s vital strategic interests, but I will do it responsibly. America must defend freedom at home and abroad, but we must seek diplomatic solutions before resorting to military action. While force must always be an option, war must be a last resort, not the first option."

Here are our current American priorities plain and simple:

One big reason I support Bernie's revolution.

GMO's use increased amounts of pesticides and they are killing more than pests...

Monsanto makes RoundUp.

The issues are clearly linked.

Let's Be Clear. Hillary Does Support Monsanto & GMO's

Nice article by Manny letting us know that Hillary is not on Monsanto's Board of Directors:
http://www.forwardprogressives.com/no-hillary-clinton-does-not-work-for-monsanto/

But, don't let this suggest she is not in support of Monsanto and GMO's. She very much is.

People like to say "GMO's are healthy for us - there is no evidence they are not" However, the World Health Organization in March (2015) declared Roundup a probable human carcinogen.

http://www.wsj.com/articles/health-agency-says-widely-used-herbicide-likely-carcinogenic-1426885547

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations has this to say:
http://www.fao.org/english/newsroom/focus/2003/gmo8.htm

What they really want to avoid discussing is their effect on the planet.

Here's a good article that Art_from_Ark found:
http://bangordailynews.com/2014/08/27/opinion/contributors/when-it-comes-to-gmos-which-side-is-hillary-clinton-on/

Clip:
There are three glaring problems with Clinton’s promotion of GE drought-resistant crops. First, drought-resistant seeds and crops are still in the experimental stage and make up a miniscule portion of GMO crops on the market. More than 95 percent of GE crops are corn, soy, alfalfa, canola and sugar beets, used in animal feed and in processed food products, such as high-fructose corn syrup. These crops are engineered to produce their own Bt toxins in every cell or else to withstand massive doses of herbicides, such as Monsanto’s Roundup, which are sold to farmers as companions to their GMO seeds.

Second, attempts to engineer seeds to thrive during droughts largely have failed. According to the Union of Concerned Scientists, Monsanto’s DroughtGard, the only drought-resistant crop approved by the USDA so far, produces “only modest results, and only under moderate drought conditions.”

Third, according to experts at global organizations, such as the Food & Agriculture Organization, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, and the Alliance for Food Sovereignty, a transition to sustainable, regenerative agriculture — not genetic engineering — is not only the most practical way to feed the world but is absolutely essential if we want to slow and eventually reverse global warming.

It's time we take a stand and work towards a better solution that is sustainable.

GM acceptance in decline as global crop cultivation falls
http://www.foodnavigator.com/Science/GM-acceptance-in-decline-as-global-crop-cultivation-falls

The biggest reason why so many argue for GMO's... profit.

Planet Earth will take care of itself. We spray poisons on food so it will bring in more profitable harvests. Problem - Resolution. Earth rebounds.

Let's think about the future and care about what we are leaving our children.

Hillary, and our current corporate overlords, have other priorities.

We, as a people, need to take this opportunity to change the status quo and begin working towards a better world. 2016 is the opportunity to begin taking a different path.

For the sake of our children and the world, I hope we do.

Great find!

The article has three reasons why GMO's are not what they claim:

There are three glaring problems with Clinton’s promotion of GE drought-resistant crops. First, drought-resistant seeds and crops are still in the experimental stage and make up a miniscule portion of GMO crops on the market. More than 95 percent of GE crops are corn, soy, alfalfa, canola and sugar beets, used in animal feed and in processed food products, such as high-fructose corn syrup.

GMO's may be safe to eat but they are terrible for our planet.

However, they are profitable, so who cares about the planet?

Bernie's Revolution

People rise up and elect a President the media and their corporate overlords don't endorse - one they fear.

The House and Senate are overturned by a huge majority.

America shifts to the benefit of Americans over International Corporations.

Lives of all Americans improve.

---

It's there in the math. The money to make this happen is available if we change our priorities. People over war. People over profit.

That is what Bernie is talking about.

Corporations should prosper but, people need to be the priority.

America for and about Americans.

All Americans.

Monsanto asks California to pull plan to list herbicide as cancer cause

Source: Reuters

Oct 20 A plan by California environmental officials to list a commonly used herbicide as cancer-causing should be withdrawn, Monsanto Co told state regulators on Tuesday, saying California's actions could be considered illegal because they are not considering valid scientific evidence.

The formal comments were filed by Monsanto with the state's Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA), part of California's environmental regulatory office, on the final day the state accepted public comments about its intention to list glyphosate as a cause of cancer.

Glyphosate is the main ingredient in Monsanto's Roundup herbicide as well as many other herbicides.

The OEHHA gave notice in September that it intended to list glyphosate under Proposition 65, a state initiative enacted in 1986 to inform residents about cancer-causing chemicals. State officials said the action is required after the World Health Organization's (WHO) cancer research committee in March classified glyphosate as a probable human carcinogen.

Are you a Native American? Yes I am. I'm a settler, a descendant of settlers, not from immigrants

"If you mean Indian, am I an Indian? No I'm not. I'm not living in Cherokee Nation. So, I'm not an immigrant to a Cherokee Nation. I'm living in America which was created by settlers, not immigrants."

This is so wrong for so many reason that I had to make this quote a separate post.

How Bernie's Socialism Wins the Race (and why Republicans love socialism)

Democratic Socialism isn't about the state owning everything. It's about regulating businesses, like pharmaceuticals, to balance profit against social welfare.

Democratic Socialism isn't about everyone getting an equal amount. It's about a guaranteed minimum standard. From there, we are free to rise to our own level of inadequacy (go as far as you can go).

What needs to be done now is to show where we have rampant socialism in the wrong direction.

Republicans love socialism as it stands today. They bitch about food stamps but really food stamps are a gift to Walmart stockholders. Every dollar paid in food stamps is a dollar Walmart does not need to pay it's employees. The poor do not benefit, they work to sustain themselves. Stockholders benefit.

Endless war means endless profits. Our tax dollars are making war mongers rich while we are just creating more threats that demand more war.

The task is to show that all Americans deserve the benefits of our tax dollars, not just the wealthy and corporations.

Our infrastructure is crumbling while we build bigger and better war machines for the largest military in the world by far. Wouldn't replacing bad bridges and becoming peacemakers be a better use of our dollars?

Students can't afford college and are burdened with debt before they earn a penny while we bail out Wall Street and allow these rich bastards to keep getting richer. Wouldn't free public college be a better use of our tax dollars?

The tables need to turn and America needs to support its citizens instead of giving corporate takers our money. Yes, it's our money!

Bernie is fighting for Americans against the America we have today that is rigged for the rich and for corporations to benefit.

He's right, we need major change. We need a revolution.

America for Americans.

Time to stop being afraid of a label and look at the substance of what Bernie is saying.

Ironically, many, many Republicans will benefit greatly from a Bernie presidency. Just like the rest of us.
