Brigid
Brigid's JournalWell, for me Obamacare is a washout.
Went to a sign up event today and came away with nothing. Nada. Zip. El zilcho. Niente. Rien. You get the idea. I'm glad for those who are getting help. But for the rest of us, it's a big fat zero.
Let me be clear: I don't blame Obama. He simply joins the many presidents (almost all of them since TR, I believe) who tried and couldn't do it. He had more success than most. I do not blame the navigators -- there is nothing to work with in this state. It's a country that just does not value its citizens. Someday it will be costly. It already is, considering that we have the most expensive health care "system" with some of the worst outcomes
Attending an ACA sign-up event at a local hospital today.
Very crowded. No place to sit, so I'm camped out on the floor, like many. My number is 1096, and they just called 815. We ought to put sign ups over 6 million all by ourselves, if it isn't there already. Can't wait to see what I can get signed up for.
Just because I feel like it . . .
A little Aretha Franklin for a Friday afternoon.

Watching the end of "The Blues Brothers."
Somehow, with the way our police departments are so militarized since those days, it looks a little odd. There are National Guard troops, and I spottexd an aging tank or two; but even they don't look as menacing as what we see today. And the CPD SWAT team isn't even wearing bulletproof vests. Today, real CPD SWAT team officers are probably decked out like Robocop. And they probably would shoot Jake and Elwood, who never even touch a gun through the whole movie, dead on sight. Somehow, the idea of overzealous cops being played for laughs just doesn't seem so funny anymore.
OK, so I'm trying to get some homework done and . . .
My cat Brigid is walking back and forth across my lap from one arm of the chair to the other for no apparent reason. Furry little jackass.
Anybody else ever tried PeaPod grocery delivery?
I just placed my first order. The prices seem to be about the same as a regular grocery store. If this works out, no more lugging heavy stuff like cat litter home from the store!
Watching the end of "Trading Places."
God, how I wish someone could pull a scam like that on the Kockroaches.
Remember that Cadillac ad that was the talk of DU recently?
Here is an unintended sly dig at it (unintended, because it came out first) from our friends at The Onion:

And here's the Cadillac ad, in case you didn't see it:

IOW, once again The Onion was ahead of the curve.
