Not to mention assloads of every type of bs

It is basically brainwashing..if it has been around for less than 50 years it is a cult..else it is a religion.
Talk about acceptable delusions..

She is cool. I would start a Lina Khan appreciation thread

If I was not too lazy to start a thread.

I rarely like anyone-she is an exception. She is always at it trying to reign in those bloody tech creeps..

Something about a strong woman who kicks those creeps where it hurts (instead of wasting energy on bullshit art, theatre and other pointless, self serving drivel) warms even my stone cold heart ..

She is constantly attacked because she tries to actually do shit instead of just performing attention seeking stunts like that German creep who snarled up traffic as “art”..here is a hint, if the Google creeps gush about your “tech criticism” it is probably pure bs. That is a specific style of Si Valley bs-pompous, self serious pretensions of “getting it” re “harms of tech” usually by hyping it as something evil rather than a trashy, time wasting, low rent bloody nuisance mostly.

You don’t find opeds gushing about Lina from any of those creeps-she means business. She gives me hope otoh.
I look up Lina Khan whenever I am feeling gloomy about the future of democracy etc.

Sorry- didn’t mean to hijack your Asha Rangappa thread . She is also very cool from the little I have seen of her..

Cheers Mr.Bill!

🍻
I hope I have that attitude when I am that age . I am planning on living into a ripe old age in good health if I can - my grandparents all lived to be over 85 so I hope I do too. My mom left us sadly early (multiple myeloma).

It is the one of the last acceptable (silent) bigotries in society

You can expect all sorts of insults as a childfree woman, people (even supposedly liberal people) would never dare visiting on someone who has popped out the obligatory 2-20 kids with an appropriate dead-eyed mate .

Have kids or don’t -it is not some amazing feat.

And it is an overpopulated planet. I always wish people would address it from the left so that it would not be that only bigots and racists address it (because one way or the other it is a reality that people notice).

Just saying “educate women” without explicitly pointing out that family planning is a social service is bullshit.

And women like me who choose to not have a kid (in my case both for the planet and to prioritize my own career/work ) don’t appreciate trashy decisions devaluing our lives.

I like being old..

I was far too sensitive when I was younger..when I was 33 I was a wimp. Now at 45 I am ready to take on any creeps who bother me .

Nothing scares creeps (or their cowardly supporters) more than a woman who refuses to back down (or that is the theory I am backing with all my money.) .

Youth..bah - it is overrated..I love aging..
Nothing as comfortable as being a middle aged woman who stands up for herself.

I love the overtly pro-GLBT messaging of Swift's

You need to calm down. I tend to be reflexively suspicious of mainstream and popular stuff
;-/ (we all have our prejudices).

But anti-hero and this won me over:

I was an ally long before it was cool to be one.

As I get older, as a childfree feminist, I suspect an even deeper instinctive affinity between the (always embattled by religious bigots) GLBT community and women like me who don’t put up with aggressive shit from male creeps or subscribe to watered down “lean in” feminism, but the less commodified, angrier undergroundish version..

If undergrounds die out society will just be garbage built by creeps..

I was sad to see that Pat Briggs has passed away

He struck me as a cool person even from his small role in “All Over Me”. I have never listened to any of his music..though I should see if I can find it.

Funny how these instincts about people generally go..he sounds like an actually grounded and great person.

I had posted a rantier version of this post, but wanted to honor his memory properly and pay a tribute to a very cool seeming person.

Where did all the cool people go?

RIP Pat.

Edit: Psychotica 1996 has an awesome sound.

I don't get terfs

This childfree feminist who doesn’t take shit has always felt safer in spaces that are glbt friendly (in the real way-not big tech’s fraudulent faux alliances) than ones built by “family values” whatever the hell those are.

I liked her video Anti-Hero

She (or whoever produced that video anyway-edit: written and directed by TS so good for her) has a sense of humour and that is always endearing. I liked that Charlie’s waitress from Sunny is the scheming daughter.

God knows it is hard enough to have a sense of humour these days (especially if you are a woman). I really never expected these sneaky backdoor attacks on women’s rights by those people most feminists refer to as the patriarchs. Those bloody, cowardly, sleazy, shady, conniving, scheming, second-rate goddamn creeps is how this feminist puts it .

I like her style in giving the creeps the middle finger - very subtle.

I don't have Hulu :-/

However, I did find 3 great shows on NF this year.

I recommend Dear White People if you have Netflix. Brand New Cherry Flavor and Dear White People are two shows that really impressed me this year. DWP is straight up great satire.

I have to recommend BNCF if for no other reason, just for being so damn categorisation defyingly weird. I am not even sure what it qualifies as-horror comedy maybe? Always a fun genre.

And Catherine Keener has a ball playing..well you have to watch it. I don’t want to spoil it for you.

DWP is the sort of rare show where you feel like you would like knowing the writer (Justin Simien). The annoying kid from Catcher in the Rye was on to something..it is certainly one of the most politically relevant shows I have seen recently. All the main actors are well cast…and the soundtrack is great. I have been listening to Serotonin by Fabriq and Watch this by Jaden Smith a repeat since I watched it.

Finally Carol and the End of the World is also really good. Again it is a very different take on that genre.
