Mark James - Suspicious Minds (The Original Version)

Mark James, who also wrote the song, recorded the original version of Suspicious Minds in 1968. His recording was a commercial flop.

Chips Moman started working with Elvis in 1969 and played him the song. Elvis decided he could turn it into a hit. Moman, who also produced the Mark James' version, used the same arrangement.

Before the single was released, Elvis decided to try the song out in front of a live audience. A week later he returned to the studio to do some overdubs on the original recording and rearranging it to include a false ending coda, wherein the song begins to fade out, only to return for a vamp on the lines "We're caught in a trap/I can't walk out/Because I love you too much baby." Mirroring the way he performed it in his live Las Vegas stage act.

16 year-old (female) Invents Bio-plastic from Banana Peels

True Activist.

What comes to mind before you discard your banana peel? Certainly not the consideration of its use to reduce petroleum-based pollution and create bio-plastic, yet this is exactly what Elif Bilgin, 16, from Istanbul, Turkey, sought to achieve and successfully accomplished. Winner of the 2013 Science in Action award, Google’s third $50,000 annual competition, she addressed the need for environmentally friendly alternatives with practical resources and easy-to-attain banana peels.

That, right there, is some righteous funny stuff.

Thanks. I needed this today.

This might be the best post on DU for 2014 ... early yet, I know ... but definitely a contender. definitely.

kind of like when a married man pretends to be "single" ... and then pretends to "want" to

get divorced ... then pretends he can't because his wife is "dying"

you know = that old gag.
