DC to Hold Emergency Vote to GET Bernie Sanders on Democratic Primary Ballot, Sources Say

The D.C. Council will hold an emergency vote to put Bernie Sanders' name on the Democratic primary ballot after the D.C. Democratic Party submitted registration paperwork a day late and a voter filed a challenge, News4 has learned.

The D.C. Board of Elections determined the board cannot certify Sanders for inclusion on the June 14 primary ballot because the local Democratic party submitted his name, as well as Hillary Clinton's, one day after the legally binding deadline, sources closes to the board said.

A Democratic voter in D.C. filed a challenge against the Sanders campaign's registration. No complaint was filed against Clinton's registration. The period in which a challenge can be filed has passed. D.C. Council Member-at-Large Anita Bonds, who is chairwoman of the D.C. Democratic Party, is preparing emergency legislation to clear up the issue, which embarrassed party officials. The vote could occur as early as Tuesday.

A Sanders spokesman said the campaign believes D.C. residents still will be able to cast their votes for the candidate. "We did what D.C. law requires in order to get Bernie on the ballot, and we are confident he will be on the ballot," the spokesman said in a statement.

Bernie Sanders LEADING in Wisconsin PPP Poll, WINNING Black Voters by OVER 10%

A common criticism of Bernie Sanders’ campaign is that he “can’t appeal to anyone but young, white men.” Despite the fact that he won Latino voters in Nevada and did well with them in Illinois, and that he got 35% of the Black vote in Michigan, Clinton fans still like to cling to the fantasy that Bernie fans are all white. For the record, I’m a first-generation Iranian-American male.

Nate Silver now has Bernie with a 57% chance to win Wisconsin, a huge swing from the over 80% chance Hillary had to win just a few days ago. This is based on two polls that show Bernie with decently-sized leads in the state, with just a few days to go before Wisconsinites hit the polls on April 5th.

The latest of these two, a poll by PPP has Sanders leading 49% to 43%.

However, the key part of this poll that nobody has noticed is that Bernie is actually leading with Black voters in the state, earning 51% of their vote to 40% for Hillary Clinton.

Looks like April 5th will be an interesting night.

JOB-KILLING Trade Deals HURT Pennsylvania Workers

PRESS RELEASE

Job-Killing Trade Deals Hurt Pennsylvania Workers

MARCH 31ST, 2016

PITTSBURGH – Flanked by local labor leaders and Pennsylvania workers, U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders on Thursday said trade deals he opposed and Hillary Clinton supported have devastated Pennsylvania manufacturing and hurt working families.

“Over the last 35 years, our trade agreements have been rigged by corporate America to shut down manufacturing plants in Vermont, in Pennsylvania and throughout this county,” Sanders said. The result, he added, has been that Pennsylvania workers lost jobs that went to Mexico, China and other low-wage countries.

“On this issue,” he added, “Secretary Hillary Clinton and I have very strong differences of opinion going way, way back.”

The North American Free Trade Agreement cost 850,000 good-paying jobs in the United States, including 26,300 in Pennsylvania. Normalized trade relations with China which led to the loss of 3.2 million jobs including 122,600 in Pennsylvania. Sanders opposed both agreements while Secretary Clinton supported them.

He cited examples of how bad trade deals have hurt Pennsylvania.

In 2013, General Electric announced that it would eliminate 950 jobs at its Pennsylvania locomotive plant in Erie moving many of these jobs to Mexico.

Allegheny Technologies shut down two steel plants in western Pennsylvania last year, laying off 600 workers due to a surge in cheap imports from China.

Hershey in 2009 shut down its York Peppermint Patties plant in Reading. Three-hundred jobs were lost when the plant was moved to Monterrey, Mexico, where workers are paid a fraction of what they were paid in Pennsylvania.

Sony closed the last television manufacturing plant in the United States in 2008 when it closed a Westmoreland, Pennsylvania, plant that employed 560 workers and moved the plant to Baja, Mexico.

Sanders has a consistent record in Congress fighting job-killing trade deals. In Congress, he has led opposition to the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a proposed 12-nation Pacific Rim trade deal that Clinton, as secretary of state, called the “gold standard” for trade agreements.

Clinton recently signaled that she might seek modifications in the pact, but Sanders said that’s not enough. “I will not renegotiate the TPP, I will reject it. I will not send any trade deals to Congress that make it easier for corporations to shut down in this country and move abroad.”

He pledged to rewrite the worst trade deals of the last 30 years, including NAFTA. Sanders will also impose countervailing tariffs on imports from China and Japan until they stop dumping steel into the United States and stop manipulating their currencies.

At the news conference here, Sanders was joined by President Mike Smith of the United Steelworkers Local 1557-2 and President Scott Slawson of the United Electrical Workers Local 506.

Pennsylvania voters go to the polls on April 26 to decide how the state will allocate its 189 pledged delegates to the Democratic National Convention this summer in Philadelphia.

Wisconsin Journal Publishes Editorial CRITICAL of Hillary Clinton's Handling Of CLASSIFIED Material.

In a surprising development, the Milwaukee Wisconsin Journal Sentinel has just published an editorial challenging Hillary Clinton's qualifications to be our next president. I’ve doubled checked that this appears to be a reputable newspaper. If it is not I will take this down. This story may be highly upsetting to many so I’ve taken care to try to stick to the facts and figure out what is going on here. I’ve kept any opinions of my own out of this report although I am a Bernie Sanders supporter. But also a Democrat who will fully support our Party’s nominee which seems likely to be Hillary Clinton in November. Noting that in a democracy that openness and honesty is the “foundational building block of the republic" an editorial in the Wisconsin Journal, entitled Clinton's abysmal record on open government questions Hillary Clinton’s suitability to be president.

"..As we noted Tuesday, Republican front-runner Donald Trump is not one of those candidates. But neither is Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton. Her horrible track record on transparency raises serious concerns for open government under a Clinton administration — so serious we believe they may disqualify her from public office. We hope Wisconsin voters give this issue the consideration it deserves when they go to the polls on Tuesday.

In addition, regardless of Clinton's excuses, the only believable reason for the private server in her basement was to keep her emails out of the public eye by willfully avoiding freedom of information laws. No president, no secretary of state, no public official at any level is above the law. She chose to ignore it, and must face the consequences..."

http://www.jsonline.com/news/opinion/clintons-absymal-record-on-open-government-b99696012z1-374014501.html

The Wisconsin Journal quotes from this Sunday’s Washington Post article by Robert O'Harrow Jr. which reported that Clinton and her aides continued to use their Blackberries for State Department work even after being warned by the NSA not to.

"..Throughout, they paid insufficient attention to laws and regulations governing the handling of classified material and the preservation of government records, interviews and documents show. They also neglected repeated warnings about the security of the BlackBerry while Clinton and her closest aides took obvious security risks in using the basement server..."

The Journal also refers to a series of devastating revelations from the conservative Judicial Watch which received a favorable ruling from U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan, in their Freedom of Information Act suit, who stunned observers by granting Judicial Watch a highly unusual limited right of discovery to depose current and former members of the State Department including most of Clinton’s immediate staff.

legitimate questions have been raised about whether Clinton's staff was trying to help her to sidestep the Freedom of Information Act.

"We're talking about a Cabinet-level official who was accommodated by the government for reasons unknown to the public," Sullivan said. "And I think that's a fair statement: For reasons heretofore unknown to the public. And all the public can do is speculate."

"This is all about the public's right to know," Sullivan added.

~snip~

The Journal notes Clinton has a long, well established pattern of behavior of trying to evade public disclosures siting five examples discussed last year by Pro Publica, as well as her refusal to release the transcripts of her speeches to banks siting the The New York Times:

"Voters have every right to know what Mrs. Clinton told these groups.... By refusing to release them all, especially the bank speeches, Mrs. Clinton fuels speculation about why she's stonewalling," the Times editorial said.

In closing the Journal asks voters to think long and hard.

Clinton has a long track record of public service but an equally long record of obfuscation, secrecy and working in the shadows to boost her power and further her ambition. We encourage voters to think long and hard about that record when choosing the next president.

The BRONX Is BERNING

Breaking News: The Bronx is Berning—Bernie Sanders is Coming To The Bronx

This Thursday in St Mary’s Park in the heart of The South Bronx, Bernie Sanders is bringing his political revolution to our borough for a rally.

This is the FIRST time that a presidential candidate comes to The Bronx since the late Robert F Kennedy.

http://www.welcome2thebronx.com/wordpress/2016/03/29/the-bronx-is-berning-bernie-sanders-is-coming-to-the-bronx/

Don’t know this park, so don’t know how big a crowd it can accommodate, or what kind of permit is needed. Anyway, glad to see that Bernie is going to a part of NYC too long neglected by major political figures! A few more details from Bernie’s website. (you can RSVP at the link. Hope some of you can attend and report back!):

A Future to Believe In South Bronx Rally with Special Guest Speakers Rosario Dawson and Grammy winner Residente on 3/31 OFFICIAL EVENT

Join Bernie Sanders for a rally in South Bronx, with Rosario Dawson and multiple Grammy and Latin Grammy winner Residente, ex vocalist of Calle 13.

It will be very interesting to see how big a crowd Bernie can attract here and on such short notice. Some info on the demographics of the Bronx:

The demographics of the Bronx are characterized by a Hispanic majority (unique among New York City's boroughs) and by the lowest percentage of Whites among all boroughs.

At the 2010 U.S. Census, there were 1,385,108 people residing in Bronx, an increase of 3.9% since 2000. The U.S. Census considers the Bronx to be the most diverse area in the country. There is an 89.7 percent chance that any two residents, chosen at random, would be of different race or ethnicity.

“YAY!”: David Lynch ENDORSED Bernie Sanders

Twitter often takes and takes while giving very little. But yesterday that all changed. Yesterday, David Lynch dropped all of his Midwestern artist artifice and threw his hat into the ring of political endorsement. Yesterday, David Lynch tweeted his support for Bernie Sanders. And, maybe most importantly, he did it with a lot of exclamation points.

David Lynch | @DAVID_LYNCH

Dear Twitter Friends,
