Story makes no sense

The story has never made any sense. First question is why is a little girl supposed to be drinking milk at 3 AM? The second question is why would you punish a child for not drinking milk? Is this the equivalent of my parents not letting me leave the table until I had finished my liver? Not a normal way of dealing with a developmentally delayed three year old. Or any three-year-old.

What is going to turn out to have happened is that this “father“ probably backhanded or punched her or something like that and managed to kill her when he did it. So, he came up with the American version of the dingo ate my baby.

The problem is is that the story makes absolutely no sense at all. Nothing fits. Why would you force a non-verbal child out to stand in the dark for 15 minutes? Then when she “disappeared” there is no reason that would be understandable to any parent for not waking up the entire household and going out and scouring the area for that child.

Unless he knew that she wasn’t going to be found. He has probably buried her somewhere and she will be discovered eventually.

I live in the area and it was reported that child protective services has been out of this house before. That is a very very bad sign indeed.

Dont come around here no more

I love the backbeat on this one. Never heard anything else like it.

This is the problem in a nutshell

The right wing Christian and not Christians at all. I call them Old Testament Christians. You won't ever hear them refer to the New Testament, but always to the Old Testament.

They loves them some Old Testament because it is harsh and starkly authoritarian.

Yes, these folks are right. God kills all kinds of people in the Old Testament. There is the Great Flood. There is the immediate aftermath of Moses discovering that some of his people had created a golden calf to worship. Moses and Aaron killed thousands that night and God approved. Eventually leading the tribes to the Promised Land which was owned and occupied by the Canaanites. The Israelite's killed all that brooked them.

But God kills no one in the New Testament, but allows his son to be killed. Other than that there's not much blood. So, the Old Testament Christians pretty much ignore it.

This is it in a nutshell. Most religions sanction killing in the name of their god. These two are just cheer leading from the sidelines.

I would love to financially exterminate these cretins. Not because I think these attitudes would go away. They won't. This is just dark side of human nature showing itself.

But, why do we have to subsidize these psychos by granting them complete freedom from taxation? Let them pay for the privilege and see how many megachurches remain when the obscene profits go away.

Valium?

He did it because he was taking Valium? Are you fucking kidding me?

Yeah, you can become aggressive on all sorts of sedating drugs. You ought to see me with a couple of Percocet in me. Yeah, I'm borderline homicidal, but I don't go out and acquire an arsenal and meticulously plan out a mass murder.

Drugs don't make people do things that aren't already there. This guy had some sort of festering issue that made it seem sensible to kill a whole bunch of people.

He didn't do it because he took a few Valium.

Nothing is more impotent or more useless

Nothing is more useless or more impotent than thoughts and prayers.

Every time I hear the "thoughts and prayers" line I find myself mentally rolling my eyes and then audibly sighing.

I also always find myself thinking about the Doors song with the shouted refrain, "You cannot petition the Lord with prayer!"

I'm sorry. I stopped being a believer a long, long time ago. I left the Catholic church at the age of 13 much to the surprise of my parents. My mother should have listened to the school librarian at Pauline Memorial (Colorado Springs) when she didn't want to allow me to check out two books--a lurid biography of Torquemada and a history of the Inquisition. It was only a matter of time after that.

Even within the dogma of Catholicism we were always reminded that while prayer is required we shouldn't expect divine intervention (except, of course, when the occasional saint was involved) in our individual affairs. Dear God, God is much too busy for that...

Thoughts and prayers is the big blow off. The people that say this are shining us all on. Because they don't want to confront one simple thing. The United States has more random mass shootings than all of the rest of the world put together. And it's not going to stop because those folks that are shining you on? Well, they are adamantly opposed to any form of gun control because their reasoning minds have long been hollowed out by the right wing echo chamber. Guns, especially military style assault rifles, have turned into some sort of twisted raison d etre.

Thoughts and prayers my ass people.

When do we eliminate this peculiar tool of mass murder from our society? When is enough going to be enough?

Let me rephrase...

What he's saying is that he can guarantee that middle class taxes will go up.

If you look more closely this is an even greater screw job than the Reagan and Bush tax "reform".

Corporate tax rates will be slashed, but the corporate loopholes??? Hell, they won't even look at them. The top tax rate for individuals will go down, but all those sweet deductions that turn ordinary income into investment income--well those will most likely be expanded.

But the deduction for state and local taxes that will go bye bye.

They might even fuck with the brackets and force a bunch of people into a higher bracket than they're in now. (Since I wrote this I've seen that this bill will push those in the 10% bracket (the lowest) into a 12% bracket (the new lowest). Ain't math fun? When you're dealing with a mathematically impaired populace you can sneak all sorts of stuff by them.

The net net is that just like in 1986 a bunch of people will realize in the year following passage of this grotesque monstrosity that their taxes have gone up. Those in the top income brackets will, of course, make out like bandits.

The really really great thing from the Republican/Randian/libertarian standpoint is that when the deficit again soars it will make going after Medicare/Medicaid and Social Security much easier as people hyperventilate over the exploding deficit. Completely forgetting that there is lots and lots of money out there if Congress would just raise taxes and maybe institute a small tax on high frequency trading.

I have pointed out to many Republican voters that the largest chunk of that deficit they're bemoaning was accrued during first the Reagan administration and then during the 2nd Bush administration. They always start bleating about Obama and the stimulus. They just don't get it. And never will. Sigh.

He knows how to campaign--not how to govern

He is doing what feeds his voracious ego. He lives campaigning because people cheer and chant and go crazy over the stupid crap that dribbles from distended pie hole.

He knows only how to campaign--but has no idea how to govern.

He has never learned the finer points of persuasion. He is like all bad sales people--he over promises and under delivers. He betrays trusts and forgets commitments. He knows almost nothing in any detail and what he does know is often just what he wants to believe.

Don't look for any sort of rationality. He is as pure id as anyone that has ever been.

Everything is a present moment and he doesn't reflect or correct. That this toddler man has the nuclear codes and has so much power is terrifying.

Someone please educate me

When is it legal to take contributions from foreign sources?

Is it allowed if the contributions go to a SuperPAC?
