Stonepounder's JournalWhen will men finally learn?
Stumbled across this link searching for something else. Fascinating (and entertaining) read.
Full story at link. This story was also recounted in a slightly different form in The Canterbury Tales in The Wife of Bath's Tale for you English Lit geeks out there.

Gawain & Gender Relationships
One of the most fascinating stories to arise from Arthurian literature regarding gender relationships has to be The Marriage of Sir Gawain. Here we find incredible insight that would not fully be appreciated in Western culture for centuries after it was written.
Let me preface this article by acknowledging the important part that women played throughout the Arthurian genre. While the stories primarily concern themselves with battles or other challenges to knightly prowess, women often appear, sometimes nameless, to guide a knight to his next adventure, clue him in on a problem's resolution, or test his virtue. It has been speculated that these convenient damsels evolved from earlier stories, where goddesses provided much the same purpose.
The inference is that men have much to learn from women about life and nature and our own purpose in the scheme of things. When we devalue or reject their intuitive knowledge, or ignore their intellectual capabilities, which are considerable, we do so at our own peril, and at the peril of the world we live in.
On with the story:
King Arthur, while hunting in a forest one day, is accosted by a powerful knight who threatens to kill him. The king dissuades the knight, but only after committing himself to a quest. If, within a years time, he finds the answer to a particular question, they both part their ways in peace. If he does not, he must willingly surrender himself to the knight for execution.
The question he had to find the answer to was this: "What do women most desire?"
Here's where Kavanaugh's sworn testimony was misleading or wrong
Long article in WaPo by Philip Bump analyzing the places where Kavanaugh was either deliberately misleading or just plain wrong. The final few paragraphs are included for their example of mind-bogglingly misleading statements by Kavanaugh. If you can get to WaPo the full article is worth a read:

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.): "Judge Kavanaugh, have you taken a professionally administered polygraph test, as it relates to this issue?"
Kavanaugh: Of course, those are not admissible in federal court, but Ill do whatever the committee wants, theyre not admissible in federal court because theyre not reliable.
Kavanaugh's presentation of the effectiveness of polygraph tests is accurate. But it's worth noting that this hasn't always been his position.
As the Government notes, he wrote in a 2016 decision, law enforcement agencies use polygraphs to test the credibility of witnesses and criminal defendants. Those agencies also use polygraphs to screen applicants for security clearances so that they may be deemed suitable for work in critical law enforcement, defense, and intelligence collection roles.
The Government has satisfactorily explained how polygraph examinations serve law enforcement purposes, he summarized.
FOX News Contributor Kevin Jackson Fired for Tweets Calling Kavanaugh Accusers 'Lying Skanks'
Source: Time
FOX News contributor Kevin Jackson was fired Thursday after calling the three women who have publicly accused Supreme Court Justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct lying skanks.
Kevin Jackson has been terminated as a contributor, a FOX spokesperson said in a statement. His comments on todays hearings were reprehensible and do not reflect the values of FOX News.
Jackson was tweeting during the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing in which Professor Christine Blasey Ford testified that Kavanaugh assaulted her in the 1980s during a high school house party. Ford testified that Kavanaugh held her down and grinded on her as he tried to take off her one piece bathing suit.
Feminists are their own worst enemies, and the enemy of women, Jackson tweeted. Also, they want men to NEVER be believed. Im not succumbing. To HELL with the notion women must be believed no matter what. Lying skanks is what these three women are, and we ALL know more.

That didn't take long.
Here's a question for y'all.
Picture a guy in his late teens to early 20's who thinks its a hoot to get a girl drunk (or drugged), put her in a bedroom and line up a bunch of other guys to take turns having sex with her.
Now flash forward about 20 years or so. The may or may not have settled down, but anyway he's married and has a couple of kids. One night his daughter comes home shattered and crying her eyes out. She finally tells him that she went to a party with some friends. She had a couple of drinks but insists that she was nowhere near being drunk, but somebody must have drugged her drink, but her next coherent memory was having guy after guy having sex with her and laughing about 'pulling a great train'.
How do you think the guy as a 'daddy' would respond'?

We believe that this stands for: Find them, French them, Feel them, Finger them, F*ck them, Forget them. As well as the term "Devil's Triangle." Perhaps Sen. Grassley can ask him. #Basta

'Kavanaugh will be on the U.S. Supreme Court': McConnell just erased any doubt about Republicans' in
Source: Washington Post
A big reason Judge Brett M. Kavanaughs accuser says she doesnt want to testify in the Senate without first having her claims investigated by the FBI is she doesnt think shell be treated objectively and fairly by politicians.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) just thoroughly justified Christine Blasey Fords concerns. In comments Friday, he laid plain his intention to put Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court, apparently no matter what Ford has to share.
Heres what I want to tell you, McConnell said Friday morning at a summit for social conservatives. In the very near future, Judge Kavanaugh will be on the U.S. Supreme Court. So, my friends, keep the faith. Dont get rattled by all this. Were going to plow right through it and do our job.
There is no other way to read McConnells comment other than that the Ford allegation doesnt matter to him, at least not when hes so close to fulfilling his goal of firming up the Supreme Courts 5-to-4 conservative majority weeks before an election.

Just got done binge watching season 2 of The Good Place (again) on Netflix
Its a silly comedy that is easy to watch, funny in a non-slapstick sort of way, and stars Kristen Bell and Ted Danson. The idea this group of folks have died but, because they led exemplary lives they have gone to the "Good Place". If you haven't seen it, give it a look (and give it a couple of episodes).
For those who have watched it, the 1 hour Season 3 premier airs next Thursday (9/27). Check your local listings.
God, it is mid Sept and the political ads are already flooding our air waves.
Our local stations come out of Cincinnati, even though we live in Kentucky. Tonight, for some reason, we ended up watching the late nite comedy shows instead of watching something on the Roku.
My God! The number of political ads was incredible and the one thing I noticed and that turned my stomach was that every single ad for a Republican was a slimy attack against the Democrat running against them and was full of half-truths and outright lies. And just about every Democrat ad was a positive ad for what the candidate wanted to do for Ohio.
I guess it is time to tune out watching network and local channels until after the election. Watching the slimy GOP at work is not good for my blood pressure.
Chewy is opening a Pharmacy.
I have no connection with Chewy other than being a very satisfied customer.
If you aren't familiar with them, they are a great on-line retailer of pet food and pet products. Good prices and phenomenal Customer Service. We have an older dog in CHF. She takes Hydralazine 2x/day. I just refilled her prescription for $15.00 for 60 pills. Just for fun I checked Chewy's price - $3.60. Apoquel is at least on par with everyone else. And you get a (I think) a 5% discount if you set up your meds for recurring automatic shipment.
If you have pets on meds, it is worth a look.
