The Plight of a Newborn Baby Stranded in Hong Kong

https://www.yahoo.com/travel/the-plight-of-a-newborn-baby-stranded-in-hong-119054651652.html

Some women dream of having a baby overseas. For U.S. citizen Wendy Morrow, the birth of her child in Hong Kong has been a nightmare.

Morrow was seven months pregnant and traveling to China for her brother’s wedding when her water suddenly broke at Hong Kong International Airport. The Iowa resident — who had been told by her doctor that it was safe to travel — went into labor, and Baby Ky uss was born prematurely on May 7 at Princess Margaret Hospital. What should have been a joyous occasion turned sour when Morrow discovered that health insurance wouldn’t cover the family’s spiraling hospital bills.

The family also tried to appeal to their travel insurance providers but were informed that it wasn’t possible because the baby’s name was not listed on the insurance, which had been taken out before the birth.

The family was also turned down by Medicaid and told by their Iowa congressman that there was nothing to be done. “We regret to inform you that Medicare/Medicaid does not pay medical bills resulting from medical treatment in foreign hospitals,” wrote the office of Iowa Congressman Steve King.

Another fine example of American Exceptionism!

But we can't have socialized medicine like Canada and England and other European countries have... We might have to actually take care of our citizens instead of lining the pockets of corporations and 1%ers

Well, my wife wasn't offer the job. But kind of cruel what happened.

She did the second interview. They were impressed with the questions she asked them. The regional manager said he liked her questions more than the others they were asked. Both interviewers handed her their cards. Told her not to hesitate if she had any additional questions.

She came back called her staffing company told them she felt she did good and they told her that they would contact the agency Wed or Thurs.

My wife sent Thank You e-mails to the office manager and regional manger for their time interviewing her. The regional manager e-mailed her the next day ( she got the e-mail late afternoon. She had been at a seminar all day.) The regional manager said they would be in touch real soon and that he wanted to know the best time for the third interview which would have been a phone interview which his boss.

She waited to hear All Day Wed and Thurs and she finally got an e-mail from the staffing company telling her there would be no third interview.

She didn't know if she did something wrong or what. She just felt so crush especially after the regional manager e-mailed that question.

Simpson producers are going to destroy their show.

Simpsons Showrunner: We Won't 'Kill Off' Harry Shearer's Characters

Overnight, actor Harry Shearer dropped a news bomb: His 26-year run on The Simpsons was over. Fans immediately envisioned The Leftovers-style rapture of the actor's classic characters. But for better or worse, Shearer's departure does not spell the end of his voiceover roster. Esquire spoke to Simpsons showrunner Al Jean, who confirmed that Springfield will solider on intact. "We do not plan to kill off characters like Burns and Flanders but will recast with the finest voice over talent available," he tells Esquire. As to why Shearer bowed out of the show, the writer-producer explains that the actor simply moved on. "Harry Shearer was offered the same deal the rest of the cast accepted, and passed," Jean tells Esquire. "The show will go on and we wish him well. Maggie took it hard."

The Character's Shearer voices:

Ned Flanders
Charles Montgomery Burns
Waylon Smithers
Otto Mann
Principal Seymour Skinner
Dr. Julius Hibbert
Lenny Leonard
Rev. Timothy Lovejoy, Jr.
Kent Brockman
Scratchy
Kang
McBain a.k.a. Rainier Wolfcastle
Jasper Beardly
Eddie the Police Officer
Judge Roy Snyder
Sanjay Nahasapeemapetilon
God
The Devil

I saw posted on Facebook that Harry said the contract would not let the actors do other projects. Don't know if that was true.

Remember this little scene of fiction that had real facts?

Have to wonder what those facts would look/sound like after TPP.

What is wrong with this world?!

https://www.yahoo.com/tv/s/tv-show-pulls-horrible-prank-231000053.html

It's hard to believe anyone would do this.

A Cambodian television show called Like It Or Not (translated from Penh Chet Ort) had a special Mother's Day episode featuring 13-year-old American singer-songwriter Autumn Allen, who has lived in Cambodia since age 6 with her father.

Autumn has not seen her mother since moving to Cambodia, and the show promised to reunite them on the show, causing her to tear up and admit that would be a "dream come true."

But it was all a prank.

Does my wife have to answer the door?

I posted about last week when the neighbors down stairs called the cops on my wife claiming they heard pounding. My wife had been sleeping got up to use the bathroom. Yes, the sheets got wrapped around her legs so she did do couple hop steps to keep from falling and get out of the sheets. She went to the bathroom and was about ready to fall completely back to sleep when she heard pounding on the door. She tried to ignore it. Person kept knocking It ended up being a cop who told her to walk softly.

We have no peep hole in our door nor can we put one in or a dead bolt. Condo rules... They own the door. I told my wife especially since I got a new job and unfortunately I am still on Midnights for a little while longer BUT I told my wife from the time I leave DO NOT open that door or answer it anytime during the night unless you know who is on the other side.

She is afraid that if the cops show up again they will break the door down if she doesn't answer.

Wife able to get second job interview rescheduled. She goes Monday.

She has a small list of questions she wants to ask. Should she memorize them or is it okay to have them written down? My MIL said no have them memorized but a couple friends said if you have them written down before hand it shows that you are truly considering the company as an employer and it also shows you are interested in the position?

Any other suggestions?

She has researched the company and wrote down a few pages worth of info she is going to review tonight and tomorrow morning.

She is going on you tube to watch second interview videos--does and don'ts what to expect and what might be ask.

She is also compiling a list of questions she has. She is taking the job description that was listed with the job and using that as a guide for some of the questions.

Just remember this little gem from Mit Romney

How soon will we see this happening in the US? How many Business men who support TPP who would be in the same awe of such a Chinese "hostage" sweat shop?

Escape from Duggarville: How playing the good Christian housewife almost killed me

http://www.rawstory.com/2014/09/escape-duggarville-good-christian-wife/

Vyckie Garrison was once a minor celebrity in the Quiverfull Movement, made famous by TV’s Duggar family. As a devout, Bible-believing Christian and the mother of seven homeschooled children, Garrison spent 16 years, with her husband, publishing a newspaper for families on a similar path. Today, via a website called No Longer Quivering, she publishes resources for women leaving the movement. Recently she addressed American Atheists about her experience. This article is an abridged version of her remarks.

(THIS STORY FIRST APPEARED AT ALTERNET.)

Whenever I talk about my escape from the Quiverfull movement, Christians immediately dismiss my experience by saying, “Your problem was not with Jesus or Christianity. Your problem was that you were following an extreme, legalistic cult. Let me tell you about my personal relationship with Jesus.” It can be extremely frustrating. I was in a close, personal relationship with Jesus for over 25 years. But rather than telling you about the beginning of my relationship with this man, I am going to spare you the long story and skip straight to the break up.

The end of my life as a “Bride of Christ” came after a visit to Bright Horizons, which is the local domestic violence shelter in my hometown of Norfolk, Nebraska. I went there for help in filing a restraining order against my husband, whose emotional and mental abuse against me and my children had escalated to the point that I was in the midst of a complete mental and physical breakdown. He had taken 6 of our 7 children to a town three hours from our home and was preventing me from having any contact with them unless I agreed to his terms for our “reconciliation.”
