Mills Police Department Officer Zachary Miller entered his plea on Friday, a month after drug-sniffing police dog "Nyx" died, the Casper Star Tribune reported.
Citing court filings, the paper reported that Miller left Nyx in his patrol car, parked outside the police station, with the windows rolled up.
Police dogs are prohibited from the Mills police station, the paper said.
If convicted of the misdemeanor charges, Miller faces up to six months in jail and a fine of $750, the paper reported.

Finally, a police officer is charged for a death, albeit not for the death of a human being.

I haven't seen whales down in Southern California, but the anchovies are definitely here. I've been seeing tons of pelicans dive - bombing the surf for anchovies.
Goodell defends NFL's 2-game suspension of Rice for domestic violence
Source: cbsnews.com
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell defended the league on Friday against criticism that it was too lenient in suspending Ray Rice two games for his "horrible mistake."
"We just can't make up the discipline," Goodell said. "It has to be consistent with other cases. And it was in this matter."
Goodell stressed that the Baltimore Ravens' running back has assumed responsibility for his conduct, has no history of assault and is following a court order to enter a diversionary program following his domestic violence arrest.

No Goodell, a mistake is thinking you'll like the new Vin Diesel movie. Punching a women into unconsciousness and dragging her body through a casino is a CRIME.
Contrary to this CBS article, Rice did not just "punch" her. Heres one of the few articles that actually describes what Rice did:

"Weird Al" Yankovic - Word Crimes:
It bags on grammar errors--"Word Crimes"--to the tune of Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines."
Neil deGrasse Tyson answers Summers
To set the scene, the (poorly posed) question is referring to comments made by former Treasury Secretary and Harvard University President Lawrence Summers, who suggested that genetic differences could explain why there are fewer girls in science. Yup, he really was Treasury secretary and president of Harvard.
Neil deGrasse Tyson's answer is, um, out of this world. There, I said it. Let me have this one.

Scroll to the last 4 minutes of the video at the link for Neil's answer to the audience question. He recounts the struggles he faced as an African American wanting to be an astrophysicist and states that we first must create a system of equal opportunity before we can even ask the question of whether genetics play a part. The rest of the hour-long video has a pretty brilliant, humorous discussion of the issues involved in getting people engaged in science.
Measles outbreaks in NYC, Orange County spotlight risks even for vaccinated
Two measles outbreaks are occurring in major metropolitan areas at opposite ends of the country, putting the spotlight back on a once virtually-eliminated disease.
...
In the California outbreak, none of the children had been vaccinated, but 10 of the adults said they received an MMR (measles mumps and rubella) vaccine, while six had an unknown vaccination status.
...
The CDC says more than 95 percent of people who receive a single dose of the MMR vaccine are immune against measles, and a second dose gives immunity to almost all of those who don't respond to the first dose.
...
"The issue there from our side as I see it is not an issue of the vaccine, but the number of people exposed in a health care situation," he said. "When you have that many exposed, even if the vaccine is 99 percent effective, you're going to have breakthrough cases. "

So the folks not getting their kids vaccinated are even endangering us folks and our kids who do get vaccinated, since the vaccine is only 95-99% effective.

Family Sues Petco After Calif. Boy, 10, Dies from Rat Bite Fever
The family of a 10-year-old-boy who died from rat bite fever is now suing Petco for the boys death. Aiden Pankey died last summer from rat bite fever, a disease reportedly carried by a rodent purchased from a Petco in San Diego, Calif., according to the San Diego County Medical Examiners Office.
...
Two weeks after buying the male rat, the boy was struck with what his grandmother called flu-like symptoms and died over the course of 48 hours.
...
I put him to bed after a day at the doctors office and the next thing I knew it just was too late, she said. I went into his room and he couldnt speak. He was unstable on his feet. I got him down to my room and he collapsed on the floor. I called 911 because it was scaring me that his breathing was shallow and he seemed to be losing his ability to function.
The San Diego Medical Examiners office said in a report issued to ABC News that despite aggressive resuscitative efforts, death was pronounced.

Man Accidentally Kills Self With Gun During Demonstration On Gun Safety
A man from Independence Township, Michigan accidentally shot and killed himself on Monday while teaching his girlfriend about gun safety, the Oakland Press reports.
The 36-year-old, whose name has not been released, was showing his girlfriend how his three handguns are safe when they arent loaded, according to the Detroit Free Press. He was attempting to demonstrate the safety of the handguns by holding them to his head and pulling the trigger.
The third gun fired, and the man was struck in the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
...
This isn't the first time a gun safety demonstration has gone wrong. In January 2013, 18-year-old Florida resident Alexander Xavier Shaw died doing a similar demonstration. Richard M. McLean, a 22-year-old from Michigan, died in a similar fashion in June 2012. Missouri resident James Looney, 40, was also teaching his girlfriend about gun safety when he shot himself in the head in September

CNN does craven hatchet piece on Hoboken Mayor
In what CNN presents as a news article, NOT an opinion piece, "CNN Investigative Reporter" Chris Frates posted a sensationalistic hatchet job full of unsupported hyperbole but no new facts.
The screaming headline is "First on CNN: Christie scandal mayor full of contradictions." Frates just rehashes what has already been reported elsewhere about how Zimmer had stated "early on" that she had no reason to believe the withholding of Sandy relief funds was retribution.
Then he makes the ridiculously untrue assertion that "Every time she told the story, the number of people she implicated in the pressure campaign grew."
http://www.cnn.com/2014/02/03/politics/christie-hoboken-mayor-zimmer-accusations/index.html?c=politics
Chris Frates came to CNN on September 25, 2013, after having worked at Politico. It shows.
Wonder who got Frates/CNN to post this nonstory on the day responses to the NJ legislature's subpoenas were due?
