As someone who lives in New Orleans I must say I enjoyed staying home Sat. The waffles were great. Figure its practice for 2016. I am curious how far down the rabbit hole American voters take us now. I voted for her the first time. Then she backed Keystone. That was the straw. maybe Dems will start running people whose party affiliation is more the just a "D" behind their name. In fact all the other local dems I know had the same attitude. We are all looking at 2016 hard now. No one I know locally will vote 3rd way. To quote Manny "It's pretty @$!#ing clear: we win by being Democrats, not Republicans."
Incumbent Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) lost her seat in the U.S. Senate Saturday, falling to Republican Congressman Bill Cassidy in a runoff election, according to CNN.
CNN called the election for Cassidy within a half-hour of the polls closing.
Landrieu, a member of a New Orleans political dynasty, has held the seat since 1996 when she replaced John Bennett Johnston, Jr., also a Democrat.
Landrieu was forced into the runoff after receiving only 42 percent of the vote in the November election, short of the 50.1 percent required for re-election.
In recent weeks Landrieu has frantically campaigned to hold onto her seat, including backing a measure to move forward with the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, a move popular in her state but at odds with national Democrats.

It was once wryly observed by author John Rogers that (t)here are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year olds life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.
Now those emotionally stunted, socially crippled man-children have new reason to rejoice. No, not the mid-term elections. No, no, not the release of Grand Theft Auto V.
No, my friends, Im afraid its much, much worse than that. Its a new Ayn Rand novel.
For the first time in more than 50 years, publishers are rolling out a new novel by the godmother of libertarianism, the previously unpublished Ideal. The book tells the story of a movie actress who is accused of murder.
