limpyhobbler's JournalI would rather not have a computer chip implanted under my skin.
I hope it doesn't become one of those informal requirements of our society, such as having a credit card, a checking account, providing your social security number everywhere, etc.

COBRA premiums are a scandal in this country. How can someone who is unemployed be expected to pay
so much for insurance. And that's if they don't even get sick. If they go to the doctor they will have copays and deductibles. I think the COBRA actually costs more the the total of the employer contribution plus the employee contribution that was paid when the person was still working. I understand when COBRA was created it was supposed to be there to help people as a short-term gap coverage but real life is that people can't afford it. I have close relatives that are being forced to choose between health insurance and food and heat. COBRA costs too much!

Reagan played the #1 public spokesman for the corporate takeover of the US government.
Reagan played the #1 public spokesman for the corporate takeover of the US government. In this role he enabled the rise of right-wing religious-political fundamentalism as a tactic to politically divide the American people. The way right-wingers worship him creeps me out. We don't have any idols like that on the left. In order to sell capitalist orthodoxy to working people, they actually invented a whole new religion, a whole new version of Christianity. The new fundamentalism emphasised tradtional cultural values. But it also tought as central tenets support for "free-market" supply-side economics, fear and hatred of government, and loyalty to the Republican party. Most of the problems in our country today were either created by or exacerbated by the policies that Reagan sold to the American people.
we should end corporate personhood right away
It will probably take at least 10 years of concerted effort to pass this amendment if at all.
but
TYT says they are the largest online news show. I'm not sure how they come up with that factoid. My point being that their audience might not be so limited. The stuff cenk says does have potential to catch fire and cause trouble for obama. If he was just some random loony, I'm guessing this thread never would have been started. It's because Cenk does make some good points and have a pretty large audience that some folks feel the need to tear him down with insults and attempt to discredit him.
Let's not forget who Cenk's audience is. It's a significant bloc of progressives who care more about policy than party, many of whom are willing to consider casting a protest vote if they believe the Democrats do not represent their interests.
Instead of mocking and trying to discredit this one opinion slinger cenk, elected dems should pay more attention and give more power to the progressive bloc inside the democratic party, and give less attention and power to republicans and corporate donors.
The progressive left does feel neglected. It's not just this one guy. That's the real issue. The party "leaders" ought to pay attention.

we have to start challenging some of these democrats in the primaries.
Or the party won't mean much.
Better think twice. I think Rocky Anderson is a pal of Mitt Romney.
I would not put it past Romney to ask Anderson to run as a third-party challenger to take votes from Obama.
I don't have any evidence, so I don't know if maybe I should take this to the UFO/Bigfoot conspiracy forum.
But hey I'm just sayin, it could be.
