JoethePleb's JournalTexas Educators School Greg Abbott On Public Education
The association that represents Texas teachers has strong words for Attorney General and gubernatorial hopeful Greg Abbott calling his budget plan "a slap in the face" to Texas school children, parents and the more than 600,000 Texans who work in the state's public school system. In a blistering statement they admonish him for pandering to his right-wing base instead of taking a strong leadership role arguing that he should, "put the needs of our children first, not bow to a political ideology intent on starving public education."
Ironically, Public Education is not even listed under "Issues" on Abbott's campaign website for Governor, and of the 600 words in his recently pinned Op-Ed entitled "A working plan for Texas" not a single one is, "education."

Texas Judge Switches to Democratic Party: "The Republican Party Left Me"
Source: Burnt Orange Report
The Republican Party continues to push moderate voters away, but now even it's own elected officials are giving up on the fight with the extremist in their ranks. Today Bexar County Court at Law Judge Carlo Key switched from the Republican Party to the Democratic Party emphasizing that the, "Republican party has been at war with itself," and that ultimately, "I have not left the Republican Party, it left me."

"A Plan I Liked": Ted Cruz's Speechwriter Laments Loss Of Government Health Insurance
Source: Burnt Orange Report
Speechwriter and Communications advisor for Ted Cruz lit up Twitter last night when she complained that, "It's almost November and I have no idea what my health plan will be or what it will cost in January."
It wasn't long before she was apparently inundated with tweets reminding her of why she lost her current health insurance -- Senate Republicans pushed an Amendment to force Congressional staff onto DC exchanges after cutting their initial employer-provided plans.
In response to those pointing out the inconvenient truth she tweeted, "If you guys think I am complaining about the Vitter amendment you are mistaken. I'm upset about being forced into DC exchange. Period." She then went back and referenced the same Amendment tweeting that her issue was the, "Requirement that all staff use DC exchange. Little noticed aspect of Obamacare."
Click below the jump to see some of the great reactions to this audacious tweet...

Rick Perry Tells Texans They May Get Health Care If They'd Just Get A Job
Rick Perry has released a new ad in the wake of another job poaching tour of California where he also humored the San Francisco Chronicle with an interview. As far as rhetoric, the guy is on a roll, but his ideas aren't likely to resonate anymore nationally in his 2nd first impression.
Perry said that Texas doesn't, "judge success on the number of people we have on public assistance." And neither do Democrats, but we do count it as a failure when you have the most individuals of any state that actually need it.

Ted Cruz Wants To Replace Obama, Not Obamacare
Ted Cruz doesn't want to replace Obamacare, he wants to replace President Obama.
Ted Cruz made his appearance at this year's Texas Tribune Festival in front of a "Come and Take It" flag, ironically it was via Skype and he was actually in Washington D.C. It was though, the perfect metaphor for a conversation that gave insight into the real reasons behind his grand stand on the Senate floor -- his campaign for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination...
