Trump: "I Will Protect Our LGBTQ Citizens'

Despite an RNC platform that is overwhelmingly anti-gay, Donald Trump in his speech on Thursday mentioned the Orlando massacre and said that he "will do everything in my power to protect our LGBTQ citizens from the violence and oppression of the hateful, foreign ideology, believe me," in reference to fundamentalist Islamic.

The line was met with loud applause from the presumably conservative crowd and Trump noted, "I have to say, as a Republican, it is so nice to hear you cheering for what I just said, thank you.

To be fair he said, "hateful, foreign ideology", not 'hateful, domestic ideology'.

Image Of Jesus Left Outside Mosque To Insult Muslims

A large painting of Jesus was left outside a mosque in Long Island in what police are investigating as a bias incident.

The Hillside Islamic Center in North New Hyde Park said an employee discovered the picture on Friday on a fence outside the mosque.

Mosque president Abdul Aziz Bhuyian told The Island Now surveillance from the building showed a man had cycled up to the mosque and hung the picture outside.

“I’m sure… he wanted to provoke,” Bhuyian told the website. “Had he had good intentions he would have come to us. We’re always here,” he said, adding: “We want to make sure the person doesn’t do the same thing to anybody else.”

Had the picture hanger bothered to check, he would have discovered Jesus is quite revered in Islam.

Oregon woman who licked, groped another woman on flight is sentenced

An Oregon woman who licked, groped and verbally harassed a female passenger during a flight from Las Vegas to Portland was sentenced Monday to eight months of home detention.

Heidi McKinney, 27, of Banks declined to make a statement during Monday’s sentencing at the federal courthouse in Portland, The Oregonian/OregonLive reported. McKinney, who wrote a letter of apology to the victim, pleaded guilty in March to assault with intent to commit a felony.

In addition to home detention, McKinney was sentenced to three years on probation. She must also pay $3,000 restitution and abstain from alcohol.

McKinney was arrested May 8, 2016, after the Alaska Airlines flight landed at Portland International Airport. The 19-year-old victim told authorities she had been touched without consent.

Police Shoot People Dressed As The Joker And Harley Quinn

Australian police shot a man and a woman dressed as comic book characters while they performed a sexual act at a nightclub early Saturday morning, news.com.au reported. The man and the woman were dressed as the Joker and Harley Quinn.

Dale Ewins, 35, was shot in the stomach by police. Authorities said they shot him because he pointed his toy gun at them and they believed it was a real weapon. However, club security said Ewins did not aim the gun at them.

Zita Sukys, 37, was shot in the leg. Both were attending the Saints & Sinners Ball, described as a party “for Australian swingers and those who are just curious.” Promotions for the party also said it has “a well-earned reputation as Australia’s, if not the world’s, raunchiest party.”

Ewins was rushed to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with critical injuries, but he was later stabilized. He was Tasered by police after they shot him, according to The Age Sunday. Sukys, who obtained a less serious injury, was taken to The Alfred Hospital.

A video captured on a GoPro camera shows a car clipping a cyclist, sending him tumbling to the pavement, then leaving the scene on the Natchez Trace Parkway in Tennessee.

Marshall Grant Neely III, 58, of Franklin, Tennessee, was arrested after the crash, which occurred on Saturday, according to police, and faces several charges, including reckless endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to immediately notify of an accident and failure to render aid.

Neely was booked into the Williamson County Detention Center in Tennessee, and officials said that he may face additional charges, possibly including federal ones, in the days ahead.

He was released on $11,500 bond and has a court date scheduled for July 20. Calls to Neely from ABC News on Sunday afternoon were not immediately returned.

North Kansas City man accused of sexually assaulting 1-year-old

North Kansas City man accused of sexually assaulting 1-year-old girl gets charged with sodomy

When a family forgot something at home, court documents say they returned to find a family friend fondling their 1-year-old daughter.

The Clay County prosecutor has charged Jayson Newlun with statutory sodomy.

Court papers say that the victim’s family left her in Newlun’s care while they went to the store. They returned after about five minutes to retrieve food assistance paperwork, and found Newlun in a compromising position with the girl in her bedroom.

After the girl’s mom caught Newlun allegedly sexually assaulting the girl, she alerted the dad who tackled the suspect, hit him with a dresser drawer and then punched him several times.

Beating him with a dresser drawer is quite creative. I cannot say in this situation I would have been so lenient.

Cops get complaint about slip-and-slide, end up going on it

Cops get complaint about slip-and-slide, end up going on it

It was a telltale sign the party was coming to an end: The police showed up.

But when cops in Asheville, North Carolina, responded to a complaint about a giant slip-and-slide that had been set up for a Fourth of July block party, they did the unexpected: They took a ride themselves.

Resident Katlen Joyce Smith said one of the local dads decided to build a slip-and-slide for the neighborhood kids to enjoy during the annual block party.

In the middle of the party, two officers showed up. They had received a complaint from one of the neighbors that the DIY water slide was blocking the road, Asheville police said.
